35k no power and climbing

1/2" of rain so far. Light winds. Lots of river flooding from high tide.

That’s crazy but not totally surprising. I gotta do some digging on the mechanics behind that one as I don’t think the forecast ever called for gusts to reach higher than 60 at the time, which is still pretty respectable. I’m still finding trees and phantom limbs down when I go for walks that I’m willing to bet are attributed to that storm.

So far coastal flooding was about 5.8 feet, moderate stage with this round of tides, forecast was 5.7-6.2 so within range.

Semi retirement... but given the stressful nature of that portion of my work, it feels like retirement...

So far Coastal flooding does not seem to be as bad as anticipated on central and eastern south shore

If you’re taking about 30 (White Horse Pike) most of that portion of the road is at sea level. It floods there during astronomically high tides. It used to be a great crabbing spot. Check out the High Point Pub in Absecon. Great wings, calzones and other food. It looks like a bar from the outside but there’s a large dining room in the back. And Ghilchrest for breakfast. Best blueberry pancakes you’ll have in your life.

That was basically a category one. The fire chief at the time in Marshfield sent me a picture of the anemometer that said 90.

Some thunder here in Carteret.

Just a quiet little town called norwell. I think I’m just a little southeast of Scott. We happen to be about five miles from the ocean so big wind events are nothing new around here but there’s been a few bigguns over the years. That 2021 storm was on another level though, never experienced winds nor damage of that intensity before.

Very light rain has started with a breeze around 20mph. Looks like heavier stuff coming in next few hours.

Loved working with your district! In the end, it came down to too just too many clients. I was up to 115 districts, add to that a few dozen other clients and all of my forensic work something had to give! I'm at the point in my life where I wasn't looking to hire other Mets and run a multi employee business. By far the school portion of my work was the most stressful and the liabilities were worrisome. I will be dealing with winter weather clients but in a much less stressful fashion.

Glad my kids game was at 9am, we finished up with a cold windy drizzle. Just enough to be annoying.

This is going about as I thought here. Rain is banded and just misery mist for the most part. Winds are mediocre. Not being a Debbie, I just didn’t think this would end up as as a mid or upper tier event here, and it hasn’t.

Wind and Rain here which goes between light and heavy. Lots of twigs and small branches down. There's reports that the YMCA building in Hardyston - Sussex County lost part of it's roof.
