What about Jimmy the Greek?

Meaning all the numbers are stuff we haven’t seen before. This Nino is a beast. At least the desert SW is getting rain. Maybe too much lol.

The winter weather advisory needs to be retired. Means nothing to anyone

Weather underground pretty much Friday - Saturday. 50s and 30s there on after. I'd take that in a heartbeat.

Exactly. So someone arguing that global warming has ended March snowfall in NYC is just silly and shortsighted. -

It's been bouncing in the -1 to -1.5 range, and the N Pac maps haven't really changed all that much. No real movement in the PDO yet. -
Yeah I liked snow advisories and heavy snow warnings

I have no idea how they messed up the wording of winter type storms over the years. Seems like no one was confused 30 years ago.
-
Not sure how I feel about this. Like I get it with tornadoes that are on the ground about to destroy a town but blizzards are inherently dangerous so whats a dangerous blizzard?
-
Any nudity ?

Yeah, mainly noise level changes and the models aren't budging even with the early SSW. I think the cold will go to Europe and into the north pacific, reinforcing the pac jet from November through December. After that, things may become slightly more favorable and we may get a window or two where something wintry can happen.

New For 2026 -27

Vaguely related....I was cheering on a family member at the NYC marathon yesterday when I stumbled upon the Central Park weather instrument station. They are really boxed in by thick trees and shrubbery. Sketchy at best.

Next year I will start a mountain bike thread. It’s honestly one of the best ways to stay in shape for ski season. I have a gym membership but I’m finding I go less and less. Bikes, core workout, and leg blasters are all I need to get me ready for skiing. I’ll probably keep riding if the trails are clear(which I think they will). Ride and ski in the same day is always a fun time. Great ride yesterday up the road at Greylock Glen, trails were very leafy but still a lot of fun! .
