  1. Past hour
  2. He's a hoodie of mine and actually Wtnh Chief Gil Simmons parents live down the street. Good Met vibes 15 to 20
  3. The Potomac River is probably salt water at this point
  4. .3 less QPF on the new Euro compared to the 12z and .2 less than the 00z GFS. Not a bad run at all. Just noting some observations
  5. Bncho is right. Besides, the storm is gonna get its act all together and wallop us all. Hey you haven't truly lived, until you go to bed early during the height of the revitalized storm and sleep right through the historic death band!
  6. Who’s to say it won’t trend back in our favor. The European model hasnt been great the last few stoms either
  7. Truly the best storm I think I'll ever experience.
  8. yeah - DC definitely salts WAY more. Like our streets right now are basically white.
  9. It was supposed to be rain here, and all of a sudden it's freezing rain on the cars at basketball practice.
  10. Euro very aggressive in bringing in the sleet Sunday afternoon. Still a good thump before then, but it cut back snow amounts compared to the 12z run. The trends are not good with the mid level warming. Thank goodness we have such an extreme arctic airmass in place or else this event would fall apart.
  11. Happy 10 year anniversary for one of the greatest mid-Atlantic blizzards of all time! Still feels like yesterday. It was as close to perfection as any storm can get.
  12. From what I can tell it looks like most models have seen a slight uptick in overall QPF at 0z. Good sign. That warm nose will be the wildcard for most of the Arkansas crowd.
  13. Congrats to MBY on that Euro run with 21.2! Just incredible! Even my family in extreme southern OK is looking at 5-6 inches! Trying to temper my excitement...I know Lucy can always be lurking. Lol
  14. Also hey everyone please be mindful of our snow removal/city planning thread. Make sure all relevant storm discussion stays out of here.
  15. Ah I was in NYC for the Boxing Day storm this year and wondered why there was so little salt compared to our roads down here. I do think the less salt and more focus on clearing is the better way for a city and it’s more environmentally friendly.
  16. you won't lose much to virga - the heavier precip will saturate the column pretty quickly
  17. I think the NWS really needs to adjust the forecast. Every single model shows mixing. The EURO shows freezing rain which is a lot worse than sleet.
  18. idk how much it changes the analog for NC.. but the 2/2/96 storm didn't have nearly as much warm air advection -- that was the most memorable ice storm of my life (and the best sledding of my life as well) we stayed in all frozen precip in Birmingham.... whereas this time around, it looks like we could reach 60 degrees, and there could be a changeover to just rain well into TN if not KY.
  19. because most trash trucks, especially more modern ones aren’t designed for plows. Plus the lack of ability to carry salt is a major downside
