2025-2026 Fall/Winter Mountain Thread
Maggie Valley Steve replied to Buckethead's topic in Southeastern States
37 this morning in the Valley. Definitely an inversion this morning. Looks like a shot of rain Friday afternoon/evening with the arrival of a Canadian front. A freeze looks likely Sunday morning across the Mountains. -

Bartender drinking on the job

lol I was at a bar Thurs night, bartender says they are getting 4" of snow Sunday and 7" Monday. about 1/2" here
-
Hoping to get up next friday.

same here, but out in my way back yard there is still a foot of snow in some spots, but it is ripe. closing in on 4 months of snow on the ground (yes, it is not fully covered). went back for a bonfire on Saturday, stupidly drove the golf cart since I had a bunch of stuff to burn. Golf cart still back there stuck in the snow. womp womp.
-
Call it .75" here for a total.
-
How do you know what I consider cold? Is there a defined temperature for it to be considered cold this time of year? Yes if we lived in Alaska I may not consider it cold.
-
I should have been clearer. The chart I posted is the ranking of the number of days over 80, with #1 being the highest. Below is the number of 80+ days on which the ranking is based.

Is that ct or vt?

0.3” That’s 0.9” from the “event” that the GFS a few days ago was trying to give me 20”+.
-
B The fact that I can grade it that highly despite being grazed by an all-timer that ended the season prematurely speaks volumes to how much I appreciated the consistent cold and snowpack.

2026-2027 El Nino
40/70 Benchmark replied to Stormchaserchuck1's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
TBH, we probably would have been better served if it had been a canonical super El Nino, than the strong one that was tainted with cool ENSO residue. -
I wasn't even being sarcastic...that's the best way I can describe how I reach my climo snowfall, which is respectable in the aggregate....I take turns getting sloppy-seconds from @dendriteand @TauntonBlizzard2013.
-
Noticed both actually. It’s like as soon as everything melted things accelerated.
-
Crumbs!!

Thanks, Don. Now it makes sense if the words “ranking of” are added before # of days of 80+. @chubbs

1/2" overnight in addition to the 1/4" yesterday. Please stop.

We actually have quite a few patches greening quickly in our lawn. Lets get some warmth now to help them along. Also... allergies are already nearing off the charts
-
Just a few flurries here overnight. 26 degrees on the way in this morning
-
Just get me good rains to kick off lawn season.

Looks like meh
