That big SOI drop/strong -SOI correlation to strengthening the STJ only works during El Niños, not La Nina’s. Unfortunately many years ago, JB spread the completely false narrative that big SOI drops, no matter what the ENSO state, result in an energized southern stream (STJ) and east coast storms and it got taken for fact and people ran with it…

measured 5" in Clifton Forge, VA at 9am.

I was in high school… i remember walking out of school that day at 9am to a whiteout. Most of my friends put their cars in ditches that day… but somehow i drove my Chevy Lumnia from South all the way to the otherside of Dudley. .

For any of you considering watching a replay of the World Cup draw…don’t. You can thank me later…

That beer is absolutely amazing. Their 2018 vanilla was also killer! I still have one 2018 left, though having done a tasting with both 2018 and 2024 last year, it had definitely started to fall off a bit. I like the smaller 10 oz bottles for regular BCBS this year. Don’t need to drink a whole 500 ml bottle in one go!

That 2009 event is so underrated. One of my all time favorites.

31° and very light snow. Don’t think it is adding anything significant to my total at this point though. Been snowing now for 15 hours! Nice little storm. NW of Staunton in Augusta County.

First event at my new home and ended up in the southwest snow-hole! I actually did end up with a respectable 1.3” that has since largely melted. Still very pleased with this one, early December snow is all gravy to me. Also, i’ll have to go back and check later but not sure I got warmer than 32 all day, very impressive for this time of year

Few flurries here.

Did a basic ruler measurement which showed that I got somewhere between 3-4inches of snow (since compacted to 3). I’ve been up since 3am and outside for 9 of those hours so now it’s nap time before lighting of the lawn (holiday light snow) and the midnight snowball fight

Gotta love the Bermuda High for Santa!!!!
-
My cousin at WVU said they got 4", though he's also not the type that will be going out to measure it lol. Surprised at some of the totals south of DC...fruitful event, but thought Fredericksburg was gonna end up with 5-6" based on how well radar looked earlier.

It got to 8 this morning. Still holding onto a 2 inch snowpack embedded with a topping of sleet and ice. 4 days and counting.
