I wouldn't be shocked if the models get colder towards the end of this month into January with the NAO and AO dropping especially for the Northeast. Yes the PNA will be negative. I know the same culprits will weenie me but go ahead screenshot this like I have screenshotted all your missed calls.

For tide stations that overlay prediction forecasts, some appear to be falling short of forecast high tide levels so that's good sign.

Its a cesspool for weather...absolutely horrible. Believe it or not though, I think its actually worse for severe weather than it is in winter weather. The severe weenies on there are awful -

March 2001 is another great analog.....maybe March 2023 with a less hostile Pacific. -
This is pretty perfect pattern for skiers. Gonna be good for New England and most of the west from Colorado north.

Heavy winds and heavy snow out there just beautiful. Near whiteout. Too bad it is short lived -
0.92” at mi casa in Londontowne Got lucky with the way it all setup. I had the min running AAco when I did the national precip forecast yesterday. Ended up verifying a bit more west, but that idea of a min was there. This was more pronounced than what even I saw. Later runs kept getting sharper with it. Stinks for those that missed out

Having to punt the first half of January in a Nina isn't great for anybody on the EC, in my opinion. You always have the looming possibility of that SE ridge in February. Now when you say Feb strat disruption that reminds me of February 2018. By the time it took effect it was in time for those further north like you (I think you all got a March blizzard)...but not so much south. Oof
