Winter 2025-26 Medium/Long Range Discussion
King James replied to michsnowfreak's topic in Lakes/Ohio Valley
June - September has become the only tolerable stretch here in Chicago Rest of the time just cold and windy with a few nice days here and there -
I am no meteorologist, and I am also no expert hobbyist. But what are the chances of the eastern US getting impacted by a second SSW in March? Could there be another wave of extreme cold weather in the Eastern US and could that bring more snows to the Mid Atlantic this month?
-
There will be ice but probably half of what those maps show. Need temps a bit lower and lower dews to move in.. it might help having a NE wind also

No ice?

Pretty sure that's why box is going with advisories for now and haven't upgraded. Plus not sure on reaching warning amounts for one specific type.. either way a disaster commute incoming
-
I would like to see 12z come in with qpf of one inch or greater though for major problems
-
Yeah. It’s gonna be a mess regardless
-
-
Dude we got to be careful.
-
Any chance BOX upgrades to warnings for some?
-
Snowy

This thing has convection which may not allow a lot of north pull.
-
This seems to be a good summary right now of the mid/long range…..enjoy next week before fake spring ends the following week.
-
Is that your North side? We've been in our house for 10 years now and never come close to an ice dam... until now.I have some repairs to do i the spring. Maybe i can blame it on Mr. Shitfaced who rolled his truck into our house last month
-
Let me clarify. I have no problem if someone makes a sound case using data. But often UHI is thrown out without looking at any data. That's when it is usually a red herring.
-
Please, take it. I'm done with ice. Took o e step outta my van yesterday and fell on my ass... and I never fall. Well, shoulder actually and it still hurts this A.M. Been repaired before also...

Yeah, my "lifetime" back saver lasted two storms. Unfortunately for them, I save EVERY receipt

Columbia: 0.58” liquid Tuesday plus Wednesday, including 1.1” snow Tuesday.

Toss those clown ice maps far and wide
-
Yeah that’s a sharp gradient. Not sure I buy a lot of snow here but it’s close.

Pretty sharp gradient with the snow
