It’s pretty nice up here. 60s but partly sunny. Feels like fall. Tons of folks outside at the mountain and Rec Path in town. Bummer down there. -
The GRAF was 3 for 3 Friday 5 pm - Saturday 10 pm. .89" rainfall from 2 events detailed by Graf 6 hrs. pre-event while the mets. at NWS played a dismal second fiddle. The first event on Friday pm was hilarious as the SPC had a Watch posted and the NWS gave a 60% prob. of storms. Graf said, "sorry folks, it ain't gonna happen" It did not happen. I do not expect 3 for 3 to continue but that was a very impressive 30 hr. period for Graf.

Another day and another heavy thunderstorm in the Valley. -
Picked up .67" yesterday. Storms formed right over us but really exploded once past us. Areas south and east of us picked up between 2 & 4" plus hail and strong winds.

Cloudy and raining. Cold Idiot coc -
Sun is out this morning, should see 70's today. Even tho it has been cool during the day, min's have been hovering around 60, keeping the avg temps just AN the last couple days. Cloudy wx will do that.

Occasional Thoughts on Climate Change
donsutherland1 replied to donsutherland1's topic in Climate Change
Here's where I think the issue lies. The graph is based on where the collapsing rock/glacier hit the valley (around 4,300 meters above sea level). The bedrock, glacier was about 5,200 meters. So, the graph is correct in that the region has been warming, but it is not the mean temperature of the actual glacier. Nevertheless, preceding the collapse, temperatures had reached 90° or above in Kathmandu. At standard lapse rates, that would suggest readings in the middle 40s at the altitude of the glacier. During the June 1-August 25 period, Kathmandu had 77 days with highs of 80° or above. At standard lapse rates, that would amount to highs of 35° or above at 5,200 meters. So, at least using the standard lapse rates and Kathmandu's data, most of the summer days saw at least some melting where the collapse took place. -
