Occasional Thoughts on Climate Change
Typhoon Tip replied to donsutherland1's topic in Climate Change
Not in this case. sorry - I'm not talking about some kind of fascist opinion suppressing here. Everyone has the right to think, feel, believe whatever they want. The presumption that everyone is entitled to an opinion as actually being heard? That is entirely false. Most particularly when the processing of exposing the failure has been iteratively and ad nauseam explained! Being heard, much more so, seriously considered - and being worthy of time expense - is constrained by objective reality and facts - merely because there are those that don't like, or don't understand the weight of the latter ...there is no intrinsic logic or right therein to have their opinions matter. Brian Cox, renowned physicist/philosopher roundly put it eloquently: " The correct statement of individual rights is that everyone has the right to an opinion, but crucially, that opinion can be roundly ignored and even made fun of, particularly if it is demonstratively nonsense. " he's damned right! -

Euro now brings the 90s back early to mid next week. Looks like a break for a few days and then we go back to the heat. It's 94 with a dewpoint of 67 here right now. Doesn't feel terrible today. -
2025-2026 ENSO

Like most Nina winters, there were still plenty of ups and downs. And this is a classic example of how bitter cold during winter can go wrong for us. It was a near avg snow season overall (42.6") including heavy November snows and a 10" late March storm. But mid winter? January was actually mild. In fact, the entire second half of January saw either 0 snow on the ground or just a T. In February the bitter cold hit but with it came light snows. Only a T-1" of snow covered the ground the first third of the month, the middle third was bare, and the last third had 1-2" snowcover. This along with frequent bouts of below zero cold. Another strange thing is that while Feb 1934 was brutally cold for the east, for the rest of the midwest it wasnt nearly as cold. While Minneapolis and Chicago finished colder than avg, it wasnt near record cold like it was for Detroit and east. It was also a very bare month for Chicago and Minneapolis. -

more comfortable feel today then it did yesterday.. it's never the heat it's always the dewpoint that matters in the summer.. -
I would caution against the desire to ignore rather than the necessity to meaningfully engage. Playing with old sayings ….. one man’s ‘shit’ is another’s caviar and reversing it as needed. Either way we all eventually get to eat. Please stay well and regardless of the diet ….. engaged. As always ….
