  1. Past hour
  2. An average NYC December would be +27.3F at INL lol
  3. one more round of golf would be nice before we turn the clocks
  4. Often a Thanksgiving cold shot works out when the first half of November is warm. So hopefully that is the case this year as well.
  5. Any warm winter month has snow/snowstorm chances here, so its always a wait and see even in the worst months. But Christmas 1982 lives in infamy here, it was 64F at DTW. My mom remembers being super hot at midnight mass (pregnant with me).
  6. Welcome to the Yellow Medicine County, MN (Population 9,477) thread, forkyfork!
  7. Again, your only problem with the NCEI's dataset is in its output, and not in the methodology. If the methodology was unsound, you would be presenting its flaws, but you only take issue with the output because it runs antithetical to your viewpoints. If NCEI chilled current temperatures, you'd be in favor of using it no matter the underlying techniques used to reach their output.
  8. Will lead to a very warm CONUS November. Then PV intensifies into December. Maybe we get something that will actually have impacts after mid winter?
  9. Don - you are in the all time weather forum hall of fame in my book! Have and continue to enjoy all of your posts and data you present - thanks again!!
  10. and I will continue to show the NCEI common tool of chilling the past and warming the present by highlighting the variance from raw to NCEI across not just Yellow Medicine County but the rest of the USA
  11. Yeah I'd say we have some windy days, but seems like it was driven by 2 or 3 events?
  12. Sorry the post you referenced is specifically about Yellow Medicine County
  13. Dry and sunny days lead to an overperformance of high temps. Friday probably hits 80. Low 70s Halloween
  14. they beer. it most certainly has not been windy and blustery. I mean, I suppose maybe at Logan airport, but definately not up here
  15. I haven't skied in years and never have out west. If you ever get a chance, visit Mammoth Lakes, CA. I did back in 2023 when they had over 700" for the season. I was there in May and there was still multiple feet on the ground in town and the mountain remained open into August. But like the rest of the west, the past couple of years have not been good. This year they didn't make it to June.
  16. Went to bed after work it was 38. Woke up sweating and it's 76 out. Wtf
  17. Impressive. -252m GOA low on an ensemble mean 294 hours out! But will it verify? I expect that low to shift south some as we progress into winter. This will result in lower heights for the SE but an even warmer Canada.
  18. I love Taos but they just had their two worst winters ever back to back and it wasn't worth a trip. I hope this year to be able to get back out there. With a nino they should do very well. It's a great mountain (if you are an advanced skier) that avoids crowds and the town is really nice, art district, lots of farm to table restaurants, and there is the Native American sites nearby. Santa Fe is only an hour and is worth a visit also.
  19. Drove up to the Schwendi Hutte (I asked Google and they gave me driging directions up the trails ) and skied the top of Waterville last weekend. The snow they made is nearly gone now, but October turns is a first for me at WV.
