Depending how cold the 2nd half of January is, I think we still have a good shot at geing colder than avg. Departure at DTW thru 1/5 is -4.8°. Mild weather will naje that a positive Departure but I doubt +5 or 6 by the time we turn cold

DCA had accumulating snow in December, in fact it was just shy of the 1991-2020 climo average. Statistically the region shouldn’t be shut out for the rest of the season with that to go off of. Hitting climo is a different story but no more snow at all? Seems far fetched. Also the last time DCA had measurable snow in December there was also measurable snow the following March. Wasn’t that long ago either, 2017-18.
