The magnitude of the temperature swings are greater now than in the old days. In order for the CONUS to have a top 5 to top 10 coldest winter there needs to be extensive cold across a large portion of the CONUS which hasn’t happened since the 1970s. These days we can’t get significant Arctic outbreaks without some extreme Arctic warmth like we have been experiencing this winter.

Oh man I just looked. I would not want to be a Raleigh snow weenie right now! Brutal

Not sure about the -11.9 but we’re in Tinicum twp and the area is incredibly remote with nothing but fields forests and creeks and very few homes… We sit directly above Smithtown creek as compared to other areas of Pipersville that are more “urban” near Easton rd WaWa etc! -

I can live with cold and dry with snowpack, if we had snowpack I'd hate this pattern. -

You all have been wracking up. Great storm for the Greene Co crew which was long overdue for a great storm. -

Giving up? You read it that way? Hmm. I mean with the orientation changing as the low moves away and higher snow ratios…there’s a chance. I didn’t read it as him giving up. . -

Absolutely historic by our means haha my sister lives 30 miles west of me and they only got a light dusting. Extremely sharp cutoffs. We ended up with more than Athens, and they were supposed to get more than us. Roads actually aren’t bad because the wind was super heavy it’s been blowing around all afternoon. Mostly wet roads but not really snow covered. Tomorrow we get up to 34°, not much to melt, but by Tuesday it should be all gone. One for the ages down here and one I’ll remember forever! . -

Wow ! You all are getting in on the main system throwing moisture back. That missed up here. Total just over 5" here. -
Congrats everybody. We deserved this. A lot of years of pain to get this storm. I really hope the last two weeks are the switch in the mojo to bring us a better half of the 2020s.

It is amazing how snow in north Florida is more and more common with each passing season. It is no longer a novelty in my book. -

Having a location in your profile would help. You live in Miami? I am going to go out on a limb and say Raleigh?

Please take this to the cliff diving thread. It’s been like 30 posts. He literally says in the post his reasoning we will still see snow, and when, and y’all aren’t seeing it fall outside right this minute so you’re jumping off the cliff -
Yeah absolutely wild! I really thought most of NC was gonna be the absolute bullseye and get 6-10” statewide, and we ended up getting more snow in NE GA than a lot of NC and SC. It ended up being a true NE GA snowstorm! Our biggest snowfall since January of 2011. About 4.2” total in MBY. Snow started around 8:20 this morning and just ended now. We had 2-3 different times where we got under an extremely heavy deformation band and at one point had a white out! .
