  3. "Global warming doesn’t cause bedrock to buckle...." whaaaat, um, no. I mean I realize you're asking Don but I could help my self. Just in brief and off the top of the head, there a couple of easy aspects in how CC may both directly and indirectly factor. 1, glacial rebound. 2, liquid water fluxing With rebound, that happens because when land spend multiple multiple Millennia in a stable/colder climate regime, the ice accumulation weighs down. This gravitational anomaly supplies a constant pressure downward into the undergirding and surrounding bedrock. Over time ...succumbs by sinking. Remove the ice, the land may rebound... upward. And it doesn't do so according to any necessary ease. It tends to do so in jolts felt as tremors. With increasing melt ( liquid flux) the basal water may enter ground and in CC-warming summers, then repetitious freezing and thawing over the perennial seasons literally cracks the Earth due to phase change expansion(contraction). How much so notwithstanding. But this is a weakening implication in the integrity of the supporting geology beneath the overriding ice - failure ( land slide) results. These two also work together. In fact, #2 actually happens first, then... #1 tremor triggers the landslide.
  4. People here look at Pittsburg and the Alleghenies and extrapolate that weather magically changes as soon as you cross the Mason Dixon. Look at the philly forum and a lot of times they're dealing with the same patterns as us. It holds in winter too if there's been a lack of Miller B's.
  5. Yeah it ended up being just yellow on radar that went over us. Moderate rain for awhile that added up to 0.33" here. Fine because we've had plenty of rain lately.
  6. It's a month long respite that's about to end. Modeling was showing a wet September before abruptly collapsing last week.
  7. SC PA has done pretty well the last 2 days, but its amazing how we are part of that Hagerstown split that happens a lot. Chambersburg and Frederick will get smoked and we'll get a little distant thunder on the M/D.
  8. Well, for most places east of the BR it has gotten wetter. Much wetter.
  9. I don't know, the Philadelphia area is often in a drought pattern when we're in one too.
  10. Yep. PA is just as mountainous as here, yet no downslope or rain shadow for them.

  12. Summer heat peaked in early/Mid July and never really came back outside of a day or two.
  13. Yes, the cocky Chris Martz was wrong with his initial thought that this disaster was earthquake induced. But I think most of this from him yesterday is at least worthy of discussion/debate. Opinions? Climate alarmists refuse to let go of their narrative about Nepal despite the load of evidence against their claims. The avalanche (and by extension, flood) in Nepal last week was triggered by the collapse of bedrock beneath the Yala Glacier, not the glacier partially collapsing itself. Global warming doesn’t cause bedrock to buckle. It was likely geological in origin caused by seismic activity in recent years and months causing fractures in the rock. The Himalaya are highly active due to plate tectonics moving India into the Asian continent. And the “melting permafrost” argument doesn’t hold much water either because temperatures have generally been below freezing, even during summer, where the glacier sits ~17,000 feet (5,200 meters) up. You aren’t going to see a lot of days get above 0°C (32°F). Not every environmental disaster that happens needs to be blamed on humans. Nature itself is more than capable of causing these types of events. It’s time to get rid of the mentality that mankind is the cause of every bad thing that happens. @donsutherland1
  14. .42" from the round of storms after midnight. 1.69" event total so far and 2.55" for the month
  15. Going to be nearly impossible to get anything that tries to spin up in the eastern tropical Atlantic to make it far. Just an incredible ribbon of shear across the MDR. It’s extraordinary how hostile the basin is.
  16. 81 / 71 here more sun (for now)
  17. The next Euro forecast going into winter won’t be released until Saturday.
  18. Certainly going to start feeling more like Fall. Really sucks we could not tap into any of the heat/higher humidity.
  19. Can some one provide me with the link to see this forecast? I was on the site looking around but could not find it.
  20. Despite a brief August respite, the drought remains intact. DCA -6.27” ytd.
  21. looks like an April -NAO retrograde jet coming from the NE too
