  1. Past hour
  2. 53 for a low, .12” overnight too
  3. I am at 2.8-3.0 RONI and 3.4 to 3.4 ONI peak as now.
  4. 98% of New England definitely has been flaccid.
  5. Right where it drops off near an island. So probably. Was fun!
  6. Left field shout in ... ... looked at some 30 NWS tweener sites on their interactive product and found just one site at 57, which is closely the climatological low for the date for the BDL-FIT-ASH arc mean, otherwise ...most were 60 to 63. Above average.
  7. Finally, a beneficial rain yesterday. .83" So August is now up to 1.66" which beats July's total of 1.62"!
  8. Min 58.3 with pea soup as well. Still socked in, but every once in awhile I can see blue through the top of the fog layer.
  9. 64/63 here, windows open and fans running, had to put on a fleece earlier when I was down by the river:

  11. Check out how much cooler is August on the BoM RONI vs 2 weeks earlier: Two weeks ago Aug was +2.6 and Aug had been +2.6 to +2.7 on EVERY weekly run going all the way back to the early June run! Last and this week Aug cooled substantially to only +2.15! I've been following this carefully every BoM run since April 11th. EVERY month May through Aug has ended up ~0.4 cooler and Apr ended up 0.6 cooler than what the BoM had been stubbornly predicting for weeks on end early month and before for each of these nearby months without fail! This tells me with good confidence that Sep won’t end up even close to the +3.0 to +3.1 that it has been progging on EVERY run for Sep back to the June 13th run. (This is the same kind of strong warm bias that it had for the ‘23 Nino.) Thus I’m predicting that Sept will end up no warmer than +2.7 and it may end up as cool as only +2.4. What does this portend for the Nov peak? The BoM has been progging an ~+3.5 Nov peak since the July 25th run. So, it appears it likely has finally about peaked in its progs. Therefore, based on Apr-Aug BoM runs, I’m now predicting that the actual monthly RONI peak (in or near Nov) will only be ~+3.0 with a trimonthly peak only ~+2.8. That +2.8 trimonthly would still be a record warm RONI going back to 1950 beating 1982’s +2.4. So, it would still be historic for sure. But it wouldn’t be nearly as warm as the ~+3.3-3.5 trimonthly RONI peak of many runs of various models. Edit: OISST charts are telling us that this El Niño hasn’t been warming nearly as rapidly in August as had been progged by model consensus. Remember those record rapid 30 day warmings in Aug on the model consensus that I’ve posted about many times? That simply ain’t happening folks. The ground truth doesn’t lie. Does this look like rapid warming in Aug? It looks more like rather ordinary modest paced warming at best to me:
  12. Yes there are many small ship wrecks that are great for sea bass. You were probably near a rock pile they like those too.
  13. Complete opposite experience here with multiple severe storms and flooding. Alot of tree damage this summer
  14. Nice day to shut off the AC here and get some fresh air into the house. 62 degrees presently
  15. It felt great outside this morning!
  16. One thing that I found interesting about this summer is the lack of personal experience with actual thunderstorms. I've seen cool strata rains on 3 separate events, between 1.90 to 2.8" of total rainfall. The one thunderstorm that affected my area occurred earlier this month but I was unfortunately abroad and thus did not get to experience that. I was in Michigan that week ... a week in which it did not rain at all while I was there. I have seen lightning flickering distantly from a storm passing, only once, with distant rumbles. But that's like hearing a party you're not actually invited to. That's it. Otherwise, a so-far whole summer in a convective experience dearth. I realize this is a near hyper-localized reporting and quite likely doesn't reflect other's impressions - sometimes wholesale weather patterns seem to target one tiny region as though going after one guy's perspectives LOL
  17. Yesterday afternoon was wonderful. Abrupt back edge clearing with drying/700 mb circulation got us to 74 with warm sun. It was a stark contrast to the morning, which was belated at 66 in murk mist ...then the downpours. But when it ended around 1 or 1:30 the day turned pleasant quite decisively, moving the grade from a complete failure to C ...C+ Saturday was dry enough in the morning for 18 holes, though overcast. Temp 69 to 71 was rather pleasant with no blazing fairways. We did get a light mist shower around 13 ... but it didn't last. I understand it was wetter south. So ... C+ for succeeding in ample outdoor time. For this region of N ma/Rt 2 it was not an inundating pour sensible weather weekend.
  18. 59 for the low here. It's been a long time since that number started with a 5.
  19. Refreshing low of 64 at 7:15am.
  20. Looks like the last week of August will feature near average temperatures.
  21. Today
  22. I had .45"...largely from one early PM heavy shower.
