  3. It’s hard not to trust the GFS, given how accurate it’s been this winter.
  4. Of course there’s no comparison to the ‘78 societal impacts.
  5. Mid March is okay where I live...but too late for most..late March is even pushing it for me. May just be more like. final warming, similar to last year....too bad my the period earlier this month didn't end up working out like I had though. Our best bet would be getting this to be a "top-down" type of event, in which effects are virtually immediate.
  6. I’m going to try and walk around some tomorrow to assess this in comparison to ‘78. I was 11 y.o. then but still have some vivid memories.
  7. Tonight's GFS keeps most of the accumulation just to our south -- a very close call. NAM does bring the accumulating snow across our area Thursday afternoon, but only 1 to 2 inches. CMC has slower timing, bringing it in late at night, and has a wintry mix. Certainly a little something to watch with 3 days to go.
  8. Boston's highest depth of the 2015 Winter was 37.0" and also in 1978 in the northern half of Rhode Island was also deemed a 200-year storm at the time.
  9. This. One of the best life lessons people can learn. I'm ecstatic. This is the second 12"+ event here this season, and the first time I've had anything like that in over a decade. Sure, I didn't do as well as I'd hoped, but I'm happy. I'm happy for everyone that cashed in. I don't feel that way about snow events, but when I'm chasing high end tropical, I've felt that afterward. Less that the storm is ending because it's so intense when you're in it, but to the point @wxsniss made, it's more about the chase being over. I'll never forget coming back after hitting Helene dead center and I'm walking down this airport hallway alone in the middle of the night on my way back to the car. Just hours ago I was Superman, standing in the eyewall of one of the baddest storms to ever hit the U.S. and doing what very few people on the planet can do, and then the next thing you know I'm just a guy with a suitcase walking to his car. Even with the letdown, I can't get enough of it.
  10. As a fellow Meridenite and, technically, a meteorologist (WestConn is the best Con). Meriden got a foot or a little more….the dry slot or “snow-hole” was real for central CT.
  11. For sure. IMBY sport, of course. I’m not in the metros.
  12. Albany is not really an east coast city. It’s an interior northeast city.
  13. Damn, Rhode Island just rewrote the record books.
  14. That 40" was unofficial. Nobody knows how that was measured, even the local Mets found it suspect with the surrounding areas.
  15. Keep in mind though that temps are incredibly marginal in the DC metro and surrounding areas - would be a similar 33-35 and wet snow situation. Just not enough cold air to tap into here
  16. Amounts vary a bit each run, but it has had the same general 2-4” idea for the area since 6z with a very similar snow shield. Would be nice to see something other than the GFS show this though lol
  17. I'm not like the @raindancewx guy, who had most of the snow away from the east coast. Glad I went at least normal to somewhat above for snowfall, where most of us live. I used 2014 because I though it would be really fucking snowy on the east coast. Now we really have a "smiley face".
  18. If we can’t get cold enough anymore in any niño regime, our snowfall would cliff-dive over the coming decades. But I also think it’s more complex than that. We just went through a LONG stretch having a +NAO dominated pattern coupled with a VERY hostile -PDO. We haven’t really had a true test of the “old days” since our last blockbuster season (2015). We have either had no blocking, a terrible PAC (thanks -PDO), etc. The beaches and everywhere north and south of us keep getting smacked, which is how we know it can still snow and snow a lot here. We’ve been insanely unlucky. I know, we’ve snowed in the past during -PDO regimes and +NAO regimes, but we’ve also seen our fair share of shoutouts too. Last year we JUST missed a huge storm. Two more this year. It’s almost like the snow gods are punishing us after the insane luck we had the decade prior to 16-26. Idk. I’m no meteorologist or climatologist, but I’d bet the house that we have another blockbuster year sooner than later.
  19. That looks good! Awesome skills!
  20. One of these years we're going to get a two-footer. Followed by a 1 footer. I sense it in the force.
  21. Ya Never been drunk and Never Touched Drugs. Thanks for Playing. It's amazing how it seems like no one has ever met any Italians everyone is in here. Even on my videos with Jubilee, the Comments are all "How Many Drugs does this guy take Before going on camera?"
