Possible coastal storm centered on Feb 1 2026.

I think you're looking for "AmericanSnow" forums, not "AmericanWx" forums -
My girlfriend is at Georgetown Law and I honestly think if city public and private schools are open, you all should be too. Probably should’ve been open on Wednesday, tbh. But not mad- just jealous. Enjoy your virtual classes!

Good analogy, it's pretty much been like being down 10-3 the whole time but with the jets offense you just know the game is probably over even though it's close.

Apparently my mojo doesn’t reach all the way to Raleigh.

I would take this any day.

2025-2026 ENSO
michsnowfreak replied to 40/70 Benchmark's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
Weve all talked about cold and snow, but I should mention that unsurprisingly, the Great Lakes ice cover is well above normal. Lake Erie is like 95% ice covered already. -
Went to go pickup a snowblower from a guy this morning. Wouldn’t start. Guess that was a sign of things to come. Even the 6Z SnowBlower model smokes the GFS
-
CMC at least looked more consolidated but still OTS. I still wouldn't be shocked if this trended enough to give eastern regions of the subform a glancing blow but the big storm idea is pretty off the table I think.

That 12z GEFS ensemble lows output puts this to bed… I’m done lol -
Canadian says no so far - keep wishcasting

Yep. I said before im hanging here until til 0z tonight. Then I'll get hyped for my 2-4" and call it a day.
-
This is literal wish casting. No model shows anything remotely close to that lol

February 2026 Medium/ Long Range Discussion: Buckle Up!
NorthArlington101 replied to Weather Will's topic in Mid Atlantic
GFS has been okay on picking up storm signals at range - it had this weekend and the weekend prior. It’s not not worth a look, just don’t trust it with the details. -
Its been lesser tier for decades....literally. Happens every storm. Once every 5 years it leads the way once but thats it.

February 2026 Medium/ Long Range Discussion: Buckle Up!

The GFS is definitely the worst of the group, but it’s not lost on me that the Euro and its counterparts were the ones that really got us sucked in to this weekends potential before it went poof. -

Elizabeth G on WRAL just posted 3-6 CNC, more to the East NWS generally agrees -
LMFAO....I knew it would start getting busy in here. Wait until tomorrow. It will be very busy. Southern snow storms are just too hard to predict. On a good note, there will be many with some sort of snow. Just not what the clown maps are showing.
-
If this goes the way, it looks like it might. I’m gonna have to stop equal weighting the GFS with the other globals. It might be time to admit that it’s lesser tier and to stop considering it on the same level. .

This is the Euro snow map I took the closeup screenshot of. .

Lots of tequila, little smokies in the crock pot and a cigar in the pocket for when the fat lady sings. -
Got the same feeling for Georgetown. Campus is pretty well cleared but all the streets leading in are straight slush.
