  2. A real summer day today for a change! No rain and warm but not hot
  3. Low of 67. Monthly stats: Highest temp: 98 Lowest temp: 66 Rainfall: 7.76"
  4. Jeezuz, storms just keep popping up north of Brattleboro and sliding right down the valley. Pouring again.
  5. Yeah, the real connection is with global temperatures. A huge trough over the North Pacific is necessarily Winter disaster for the east coast.
  6. Got my gutters all emptied out this morning, let them dry for patching later today Took the wife to urgent care up in Noho, come home to 0.35" in the bucket. Looks like more coming down the valley. maybe I'll try again tomorrow
  7. Any prospects for meaningful rain in Droughtville?
  8. Some assume theres some linear connection with the strength of nino and how warm it will be and simply ignore everything else.
  9. *defend the system at all costs* lol I find it's a good topic to discuss here. They are just making people aware of a thunderstorm. It's less about severe intensity these days. We rarely get a severe storm compared to the Midwest though anyway. Not sure why there's near an equal number of warnings issued west to east.
  10. We agree. Though anomalous OHC ups the ante if the atmosphere is willing to cooperate. The stability in the tropical Atlantic has been a common feature this decade, and deserves a lot more attention. It was horrendous last season after making real strides in previous years. AI ensembles quickly proving their worth in identifying windows for TC genesis and surpassing the GFS.
  11. Mid 60s and steady stratiform rain all day, with over an inch so far. It had been over 3 weeks since we’ve seen any substantial precipitation here.
  12. I want that much qpf in snow in relatively the same amount of time during the winter just like this was That was wild!! I guess that's what sw CT has had all summer

  14. You objected to my description of "wildfire-swept France" with a map that was largely irrelevant to the issue at hand. The 2026 wildfire season has been very severe in France and also a bad one in the European Union. My providing information about France and the European Union to address the flaws in the chart that was used to object to my point about France does not argue that climate-change effects stop at the EU or that they exclude Russia. The posted chart was not appropriate for judging the severity of the fire season in France. More data are not automatically better if that additional data is irrelevant to the question at hand. Excluding the irrelevant data that had nothing to do with France wasn't "cherry picking." Including irrelevant data to dismiss the narrowly focused point concerning France creates a misleading picture.
  15. 86 / 67 nice day \today
  16. Today
  17. It was. My daughter was born in August of 91'. My wife remembers it in more detail than me! Lol
  18. Out of the dozens of (pre) El Niño summers, 1991 was the 2nd hottest at Detroit on record with only the pre late developing weak Nino summer of 2018 hotter! The 3rd hottest Nino summer was 2002, which preceded a very snowy and cold winter that was one of the coldest and snowiest moderate or stronger El Niño winters there as you know.
