Might be bitternut hickory? We’ve had a bunch of those dropping out in the back usually starting around mid summer and going right through early fall. I always see squirrels and deer gobbling up the little nuggets at the odd ends of the day. Plus they hurt like hell if you’ve ever happen to stumble on one of those! edit: does this one look similar? From what I know about Ninos it’s not common for there to be a -NAO and SER linkage in them. Plus what @CAPE mentioned is very true—not really a -NAO signal as it’s smoothed out over 3 months.
