2025-2026 ENSO
Stormchaserchuck1 replied to 40/70 Benchmark's topic in Weather Forecasting and Discussion
Highest daily SOI today since May.. +24. I think a Weaker La Nina state is more likely for the Winter. 2nd year La Nina's and -PDO's tend to have a more classic cold season -PNA pattern, but we haven't had as strong of a -PNA generally since the 23-24 Strong El Nino. It's very likely that August 2025 will be the 11th consecutive month with +SOI Top 20 best matches since 1948 to 2nd year La Nina vs 2nd year El Nino for the cold season (Nov-March) Dec-Feb -
High of 81, low of 63. Dew points up near 70 made it feel a bit more humid today than yesterday.

Yeah, the actual remnant low of Erin drifted around south of Iceland for two days, sending in waves of moisture towards Ireland and the Isle of Man, n.w. England etc, but the remnant low didn't actually reach coastal waters until today (Thursday 28th) near Portrush, the site of this year's golf Open championship. All of Ireland got a good drenching over three days after a very dry first 24 days of August with roughly one third of normal August rainfall. Now it's closer to two thirds. https://www.met.ie/latest-reports/satellites/ireland-infrared

I'm liking the QBO State and the SST'S off Newfoundland. Hopefully they remain similar this Winter. That is if you want a greater likelihood of a -NAO.
-
Just had a thought: today's average temperature is going to end up lower than Christmas 2015.

And we have a sure winner here: 1. Don't know 2. Don't know 3. Don't know But I will be a sport and make some entirely uneducated guesses. ... Karen to become a cat-4 in early October after forming in late September. ... also nagging you to keep your social distance (too soon?) -
Guy disappears in summer, but drops his draws every 6 hours in winter to tell us the H2O content of his sample. Make me wonder if he keeps his family in some sort of underground dwelling.

It's ridiculously comfortable out there right now. We're going to pay for this some time in September or October. Bottomed out at 56.5 today. My PWS read 81.4 for a max but I have never been satisfied with its ability to reject the sun so I doubt we made we hit 80 today.

77/47 for the high and low. just superb weather.
-
The problem is the nw flow isn’t producing precip. Yea, earlier this summer was chippy, but we were scoring storms.
-
Yes! They’re coming. Show it love. They usually cause an infestation for a couple of years and then their numbers wane.
-
Mid-80s, partly cloudy and some humidity is my goto, so I’m not thrilled about this, but I can deal with those temps.
