  2. The only thing the models are truly showing in the long term is a slightly above to above normal overall pattern where the very hot/humid stuff doesn't last more than a two or three days before a front moves through. Seems repetitive over the next 10 days. Rinse wash repeat. Not seeing the end of summer anywhere in site, just more of a roller-coaster pattern - you know the type that makes everyone angry on this forum!
  3. After about the 3rd post I also thought the same thing and also thought of the person known as Rainstorm. Back then I Googled Barry Stanton and once again could not comprehend certain human behavior on this planet. Why someone would want to use someone else's photo of which the stolen identity has resulted in the victim being "tormented" by other humans is unfathomable to me. This is why I don't use Twitter or other social media other than this weather forum and Reddit, I can't stand the cesspool mentality, unfortunately I can't see the good things either like all the weather links here that go to Twitter. https://www.bromsgroveadvertiser.co.uk/news/16104767.ex-district-councillor-nigel-addison-reveals-torment-use-photo-racist-twitter-parody-barry-stanton/
  4. It’s like God got blocked by a cloud. I can almost hear the heavenly host choir of angels singing a c note in harmony without taking a breath.
  5. The NWS in Upton uses dense rank sorting for their ranking by temperatures. It’s a more accurate way of ranking since it doesn’t skip places like rank sorting. So 34.8° is the 37th warmest winter average temperature without skipping places or the 57th warmest if you skip years. The long term average winter temperature in NYC from 1868-1869 to 2024-2025 is 33.8°. So the 34.8° last winter was +1.0° against the long term average. It was only about -0.9 lower than the U.S. average long term departure of +1.9° for the CONUS. So NYC was fairly representative to what the CONUS experienced. I fully understand why many thought last winter was so much colder than it actually was. First, it was significantly colder than the record warm 22-23 and 23-24 winters. Second, the average winter wind gusts were among the highest on record around NYC Metro. So the wind chill factors were lower than the actual temperatures.
  6. WB Joe D'Aleo has a recent post which talks about the warm water currently east of Japan due to underwater volcanic activity. States IF this were to move into the NE Pacific could have big influence on the winter forecast.....Colder and stormier for us. I guess this gives us a little hope for the upcoming winter.
  7. If you asked a random yinzer if July has been rainy, they’d say yes. But the airport’s precip deficit for the month will surpass an inch tomorrow.
  8. You must have good soil. I don’t water my grass and it’s 90% brown. I am watering the two young trees I have in front so I have some green surrounding them.
  9. Upper 50s looking likely tonight. Brief cooldown with heat returning on Wednesday. 8” of Reddit rain nowhere to be found.
  10. Channel 4 says 91 Wed, 94 Thurs, and 93 Fri. I haven't seen anywhere else go that high. Is that realistic?
  11. I just arrived in Newport on the first leg of my vacation. However, 1885-86 had 31.9” of snow. Its biggest snowstorm was 5.3”.
  12. Similar here. 0.2” of mostly light rain. The heavier rains hit downtown and areas northwest but missed the east side. Interestingly there was a weak tornado in Allendale and that area and north got a needed soaking as well.
  13. Looks like both the high and low temperatures today at PIT are going to come in below normal. The last time that happened was June 2nd.
  14. Ya same.. I think this coming Friday will make 5 or so..
  15. You misunderstood what I meant. I meant a national ranking/average has nothing to do with individual locations- each locations actual weather/ranking is their own and what they experienced/felt, not a rounded national number of all stations. The way you imply it its like saying someone in Miami must've frozen with their average winter temp at 34.07°. And international falls must've felt like perma spring at 34.07°. I dont know what dense ranking sorting is but NYC 34.8° ranks 60th warmest in their threaded record, not 37th.
  16. Today
  17. Pretty nice outside now. 82/63 Might have a drink on the patio this evening.
