We all know the reason we love this forum is not the analysis, the friends, or the banter - but to see blue (maybe even purple or pink!) pixels appear on your screen. This thread is dedicated to the storms that could've been, should've been, or are plain ridiculous. Today officially kicks the start to our season with a good old fashioned CFS run!

Technically according to this image, it was a H by 0Z on 10/8 in 1905 or 7PM EST on 10/7. So, that means 2026 was a little later if you go by this:

Feels like this one is going to end up as a classic north Gulf half-i-cane landfalls.

The hurricane was declared as such at 11:30pm eastern on 10/7 after a Hurricane Hunters pass. So it’s a little dicey. Of course there’s a good chance 1905 had a hurricane earlier in their season that we didn’t detect

I was on my to the gym(which is just over the line a mile or two)in chesire, and I came up to route 10, and that shot was in front of me, so I snapped a picture. Yes, we in Southington had the snow, as you can see in that picture, but Chesire it wasn’t sticking as well.

No, it’s the latest 1st H since 1851, inclusive. That’s the first year of these tracks at the NHC site.

I absolutely think we see some fun winter storms this year. It just wont be the constant white, frozen landscape of last winter.

Hoping for early season snows out west where I'll be in late November/early December and then trip to Montana/Yellowstone in February and Innsbruck/Cortina in March. Assuming that winter gets a late start here. I have an Indy and Ikon pass this year. Would love to get back to Smuggs mid-week this year, the slow lifts and weekend crowds detract from the terrain on my prior visit.

Should be a good flex tonight before it gets pummeled early tomorrow.

I thought we tied the record of 10/8 from 1851.

Which is why it probably isn't a good idea to speak in absolutes....the issue that has been plaguing us for the past decade is that we have been mired in a perpetual state of MC forcing...if 2023 was buoyed in phase 6 and this is further east, then I'll take my chances with that. -

In the mean....not necessarily over the shorter-term due to more stochastic pattern flexes; there are also favorable periods within a bad season. -
1905 was a day later (10/7 at 11:30pm vs 10/8) In the satellite era, yes, by far (previous record was 9/11)
-
Yeah although 1905 was about as late:

For an “in our backyard” standpoint we cancelled our kids party on 9/26; rescheduled for this Sunday. 35+ adults and kids that need to remain outside… Needless to say, hitting refresh often before I decide to host it or cancel.
