Mp#s is right, Brick.  Without Lake Norman and Lake James and Lake Rhodhiss and Lake Hickory and Lake Lookout and Mountain Island Lake and Lake Wylie..., all on the Catawba River, millions of people would not have the necessary access to water to sustain the communities in western NC.  Each of those lakes is dam controlled.  So, thank you, Duke Energy.  Another great thing they have done is provide low residential rates for electricity, compared to the horrific numbers coming out of the Columbia, SC, area (as we were made aware of on this board earlier this summer).

I used to have 200 dollar electric bills in Columbia cooling a 700 square foot apartment.

The SW flow should help with storm development in the lee of the Apps this afternoon.

It's been a long time.  Glad to have you back, my friend.

Yep, this is what I've been missing all summer.  Storms are finally able to take their traditional summer paths.

Edit:  Radar keeps looking better and better.  I think I might have a storm soon!  No Jinx please!

Thats a significant coverage considering the rain chances were basically zero.

Edit: KCAE has added 20% storm chances for this afternoon.

Changing it on the fly. It really has become like the snow forecasts.

Whatevs.

Would you rather they didn't change it?  Leave it at 0% when it's obviously raining outside?

The professional mets for the NWS continue to do yeoman's work in a thankless job.  They're like referees in sports.  Nobody pays any attention to them until they miss a call.  (Not that they missed a call today, but we have some reading comprehension trouble with regards to NWS forecasts sometimes on this board.)  They may be right 99% of the game, but the fans only remember the one errant whistle that "cost their team the game".

All you guys that can do better than the NWS should go apply for their jobs in their places.  If they're so bad at it, the higher-ups are probably ready to give these jobs away to all you armchair weather enthusiasts.

Ergo, can we please quit the whining and complaining about how "horrible" they are at their jobs?
