Mikeymac5306
Ditto with the lightning. Most I have seen in quite a while. Looks like another line is coming down but its headed more toward Lancaster.
SouthernNJ
Reports indicate a substantial number of downed trees in Mantua and Harrison townships. The residents there did not have much indication of this approaching, as it occurred behind the main line of storms. A warning was only issued as the damaging winds were in progress. TPHL had a good view of the downbursts at 8:58 PM.

I will add that several warnings have verified with good lead times. https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/cow/?syear=2026&smonth=9&sday=1&shour=12&eyear=2026&emonth=9&eday=2&ehour=12&wfo=PHI&hail=1.00&lsrbuffer=15&warnbuffer=0.01&wind=58&wtype[]=TO&wtype[]=SV<ype[]=T<ype[]=D<ype[]=H<ype[]=G
Lady Di
Last night was pretty intense but not as bad as NJ. Lost internet and power restored after an hour or so. Glad I could run the AC until lost power again early this morning and no info on when it will be back on. Pretty sure an outlet blew. Heard it pop. Thought at first TV got fired but plugged it into another outlet and it's fine. I'm done with this stuff.
Mikeymac5306
Could be an interesting lunchtime should this blob of whatever coming of Lake Eire survives the mountains. Couple of tornado warned cells mixed in it.
soadforecasterx
I don't think the issue will be the mountains. Issue will be the atmosphere, its completely zapped from yesterday storms and with cloud cover its not going to get any better.

The issue is going to be that MCS in central PA, that's going to completely work over the atmosphere. The clouds should burn off by late morning, but that complex will arrive sometime between 1 and 2 on its current trajectory. Maybe a couple severe warnings but that's going to limit the severe for everyone. Even SPC isn't sure though as the best forcing doesn't arrive until way later. This day was always going to be about how the next MCS forms out west.

The Iceman
HRRR showing an overnight threat as 2 separate MCS impact the area. One in the 06z time frame that takes the just about the same line as earlier and another towards daybreak through SE PA and NJ. RGEM also shows overnight convection.

The Iceman
The HRRR has that MCS is central PA dying before it gets to the CWA, after that today looks mostly dry on the models. The mesos brings more overnight convection in though tonight. More scattered convection possible on friday as well before a beautiful weekend kicks off. Seriously should be one of the nicest labor day weekends in recent memory.
ChescoWx
We start to see humidity levels drop today and we will see our temperatures return to near normal today and then below normal through the upcoming Labor Day Weekend. Highs through the weekend will be in the mid to upper 70's and lows in the 50's for most spots with some 40's possible in our coldest valley locations by Monday morning. Slight rain chances tonight and again by next Wednesday night.

Unfortunately, some of this is completely out of the hands of the amazing team at NWS Mount Holly. New policies are forcing heavy reliance on NBM output, which is basically used "verbatim" in their grids. In other words, the meteorologists with special local knowledge can't exercise said knowledge to "beat the models" unless sufficient justification is provided. At that point, they may be allowed to send requests to the WPC to update/change the forecasts from raw NBM output. Not saying your forecasting skills are bad either LOL, just saying that the NWS doesn't have the freedom to forecast like they once used to. Honestly I would not expect the Point and Click from our great team at the NWS Mt. Holly to get down to this level of a "backyard" forecast. My forecast uses calculated biases from historical model runs against the actual data from my station over the last 23 years. They have a lot bigger backyard to worry about than EN!!!!
ChescoWx
A beautiful weather weekend on tap across the area lasting into the new week. Temperatures will be near normal today before falling to below normal levels tomorrow through Labor Day. We warm to a couple of degrees above normal by mid-week before we turn cooler again by the end of the new work week. We look pretty dry through the week.
