What...the WHAT??? Oh my goodness

I was listening to a Ravens podcast yesterday and there was strong indication the Ravens were going to make a big move. Apparently they are very close to getting Lamar extended.

Word was it would take 2 first round picks to get Crosby, and that the Ravens would probably not be willing to pay that price. Well. I guess they were.

It was painful watching the D-line last year. Hopefully next year Wiggins and Starks take a leap up and we have a really good defense. Crosby is the same age as Lamar. He's under contract until the 2029 season.

I also like the strategy of getting the team to be good so Lamar will sign an extension. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady won super bowl's with other teams because their team was tanking.

Also Madubuike looks like he might be returning next season. If that is the case, that pass rush will be eating good.

Yeah I figured. NBD. Just odd. I'll post my grade here when Winter is actually over lol

You mean it isn't already?!  But seriously, yeah, we've got through mid-March typically and some years even longer.  Wouldn't be surprised if we get even something small before it's over.

I just got my first heating bill as a home-owner and now I don't know if I like snow anymore

Snow is fine but when it comes with 3 weeks of brutal cold- yeah it can be a bit much. I ran out of firewood and had to run the heat pump more than I wanted. Heating bill is :yikes:

crude oil just hit $118/bbl - hope folks have bikes / scooters / EVs or their Smartrip card ready for this summer lol

This is excluding the huge rise last week, which was the largest one week rise in the history of crude futures!

^Do you know if there are circuit breakers on the trading of Oil? Sometimes they will only let it go so far in a day.

i mean particular commodities exchanges might have them (CME, etc) - but I don't think there is one on the commodity future itself.

Thankfully, though the front month of crude is still up sharply from Friday (~10-11%), some sanity has returned relative to where it was at its 119 peak near 10:30PM last night as it has fallen back to the low 100s. Later months hadn’t been up nearly as sharply based on the feeling that crude won’t stay up more than a relatively short period.

Once crude finally does start settling down and falling back, the ever-present challenge of retail following through will be there as they love spiking their prices quickly and reducing them back much more slowly.

Makes zero sense because there is plenty of oil currently in the US

these are futures contracts - so the thought is that if the Strait of Hormuz remains the way it is, the supply of oil generally will be drastically affected.  Even some of the later contracts (late 2026) are getting close to $100/bbl, suggesting that investors think this will not be something acute.

there was some talk of a oil reserve release among G7 economic ministers / leaders, but it's not clear how serious or immediate that is.
