wind picking up but not snowing as hard here.  Wow!  amazing to hear about thunder and lightning in NYC.  Jealous.  Hoping it gets up here.  enjoy all!  amazing storm already and more excitement to come.  Stay safe and be well all.

Ironically about the most snow the Euro has shown this whole time and the event is like half over

what an epically bad performance by it

in terms of ongoings now, those bands coming towards LI look sexy AF

As of midnight, we have 10.0" in Metuchen, so "only" 1.0" the last hour as we had heavy snow the first 15-20 minutes of the hour, but it has let up some since. While we haven't had the very high rates of 2"+ per hour some have seen, we also haven't seen less than 1" per hour since about 5 pm with a few 1.5" per hour rates. It's still 30F. 18" seems like a lock and 20" seems very attainable; would need to get some high end bands to get to 24" though, I think. It's frikkin amazing out there!

As of 1:00 am, we have 10.8" in Metuchen, so 0.8" the last hour as we had mostly moderate snow the past hour, but it started picking up just before 1 am. It's still 30F, but the winds have really picked up in the past hour and we now have some decent drifting - areas with 15" and some with 6-7", so measuring is getting harder.

Your interpretation of the mesoscale data you showed.  thanks.  I understand it is showing the low but interested in what the 500 mb heights means in terms of the low movement.  Thanks.

Mid levels are stacking with the surface low. Bombogenesis!

Im in Port Washington, currently about 9" and I'll guarantee we don't see anything over 16"

My dude, look at the radar off the coast. Not to mention we still have like 12 hours of snow to go

There was a midnight report from central park of 8.8. Is this correcting the midnight measurement or just giving a 1am update ?

That 9.3” at NYC appears to be as of 1AM just like the 7.8” at JFK.

Also this as of 1AM: 8.7” at Upton
