.10" from two minutes of rain

One flash at the end

My lightning detector has picked up literally hundreds and hundreds of strikes (am guessing mostly cloud-to-cloud) but I haven't seen any obvious flashes and finally heard one weak thunder seemingly from a distance, about 10 minutes ago.

Temp has been knocked down to 70 (dp 69) and have 0.61" in the bucket with light rain.

Guidance has really converged now on 2-3"+ region wide of rain through Monday. Sucks that the holiday weekend is looking like a complete washout all 3 days but it's much needed. Nothing looks overtly heavy either, just 3 days of moderate steady on and off rain so it should just be a good groundwater replenishment.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Unfortunately weather wise it will be wet and almost record cold especially tomorrow afternoon. Most models now keep temperatures below 50 degrees tomorrow afternoon - this would break the Chester County record for low maximum temperatures for the date set back in 1982. There is a chance it could be the coldest late season high temperature on record. With gusty winds it will feel a lot more like early March than Memorial Day Weekend. Rain-wise models show between an inch to as much as 3.5" of much needed rain!

I was finally able to register my non-diurnal temps for yesterday which were a  67 high at midnight and a 54 low just after 11:30 am.  Picked up 0.31" of rain yesterday for a 2-day event total of 1.12".

My high and low today ended up almost being the same (so far) and as the precipitation shield has drifted north (where there was no precip until later this afternoon), I have picked up 0.05" so far for a 3-day of 1.17".

It's currently 53 (my low so far) and overcast/misty, with dp 50.

I was hping for some  dowpours today. That is quickly dimisishing on this morning radar echo returns The hopes of getting out this drought are disapppearing.  Everytime heavier bands form out in south western PA they race up to the center part of the state and cannot cross the Blue Mts.

.25 daily  inch rains are not good enough. It only allows the surface vegetation like grasses to say green longer. We should have a bumper crop yields  for grains this year but at this time even the corn looks threaten and weak.

This cold weather is unbearable. Coldest Memorial day I can ever remember.  I have the space heater running  in my office as solar raditonal heat cannot recover  the temps in the house the next 3 days. Still wearing sweatshirts after this last heatwave.  Wll , the landscaping mowing businesses will be loving this weather after the hoilday as they will be mowing everything that grew  a foot high  this weekend.

Temperatures across the area have dropped into the 40's after a midnight high in the low 50's. Today will be breezy and raw with rain increasing as we move through the afternoon and especially tonight. Most of the steadiest rain should exit Chester County to the east by later tomorrow morning. Most areas should see around an inch of rain by tomorrow afternoon. Some showers will continue on Monday begore we finally dry out on Tuesday. We briefly warm up to above normal temperatures by Wednesday before we trend back to below normal temperatures by the end of the week and into next weekend.

The heaviest precipitation was always expected for later this afternoon and overnight…still looking on track for most areas to get .5-1.5” today and tonight with more coming tomorrow night and Monday.

We are in a weird precip hole lately. I am only now at this moment hitting 1” for the month. Hopefully we see more action later today.

You must either have the shortest memory ever or you are purposely trying to manipulate things. I love how you just disappear during a heatwave, when the weather doesn't support your agenda. I didn't see you post in early March when it was in the 80s, or in mid-April when it was in the 90s either.

Anyways, you only have to go back 5 years to find a colder Memorial Day weekend (I remember this because I got my first COVID shot that Saturday, and man that was a very miserable weekend):

2021-05-29 54 48 51.0 -17.1 14 0 0.66 0.0 0
2021-05-30 53 47 50.0 -18.4 15 0 0.29 0.0 0

I had to work during the heat wave and simply did not have the luxury of spending hours challenging or debating data records online. However, in nearly 40 years of living here, I can honestly say this appears to be one of the coldest stretches heading into this time of year that I can remember locally. The long-range guidance continues hinting at that pattern as well, with some overnight lows potentially dropping into the lower 40s over the next few weeks.

As a Township Manager, my responsibilities come first. Between preparing for potential EOC-related security concerns surrounding the election with the bombing and handling day-to-day municipal operations throughout the Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, I simply did not have the opportunity to post.

Yes, the recent heat wave was unusual, but that is also consistent with the current atmospheric setup. In this pattern, the low-pressure systems are often getting cut off before fully reaching our area, which can temporarily allow short bursts of abnormal warmth before the larger-scale cooler regime reestablishes itself.
