Saw some really nice snow devils/snownados out on tridelphia lake this morning. Wish I could've got some actual pics but hands were totally numb

12 hours now of winds here 25-40+ with the last 8 of those more like 30-45+.  An 18-hour event with these gusts will be pretty impressive.

Sun angle season is here. Wind dies off and it’s not bad at all out there.

While Skyline Drive unfortunately closed before I could reach it I instead explored the backcountry and foothills on my way to Whiteoak Canyon trailhead. Managed to get some beautiful sun as it set across the country which was an unexpected but welcome surprise.

Usually get some great snow devils here with all the wide open fields, but the glacier with no additional snow on top prevents that. Also prevents the blowing and drifting from making a continuous mess of the roads.

Glad to see the forecast of 55-60 mph winds hasn't verified. Not even close by my estimation. Maybe 40-45?

Lots of gusts reported in the high 50 s today.

My neighbor has a couple beautiful river birch trees that hang over my driveway. They drop sticks like it's their job during windstorms. The annual stick crop is plentiful

I planted a ton of those things on my property because they were advertised to grow fast and they're also good for attracting moths.  Well they did grow fast.  But my god they drop so many sticks I don't know how they have any branches left on them.  Every time a cloud moves overhead they drop another twig.

I was up on some elevated school lot  in new market and that wind from the open fields was just crazy with the 40-50 gusts. Gusts dont count for wind chill but it not a  bad value to put out there and it’s a frigid half second lashing with extra penetration of layers
