Ok, this thread just sucks now.  I don't care about snow anymore.  Lock the doors, shut it down.  That's just damn sad about Burnsie!!  Admittedly I don't hang in here a lot of the year outside of winter.  But that news got by me.  He was a great guy and an awesome forum mod.  RIP indeed Burnsie.

Ditto to the RIP! Did not know this either. I’m kinda in the same boat outside of winter. Unless there’s some crazy severe weather outbreak I don’t normally pop back in until mid to late fall when we can start seeing the monthlies of winter and long term outlook. Nice to see you posting though. I know you’ve been here for quite awhile as well.

SHOOT.. when you mix I feel like we end up mixing too.. can’t ignore the north trends no matter how positive I want to be. In reality though for both of us the WAA strip has hardly wavered for multiple runs now. Problem is the dreaded warm layer is starting to become a distinct reality. Hoping it keeps its mojo as we close in.

You are in Roanoke correct? @Bob Chill is in between you and me in Penhook. I think u both are in a solid spot if it doesnt keep trending north for 1-2'.

2 inches of freezing rain in NC is devastating.  Hopefully that does not happen.

0z ICON snow beat down into VA.. but was fairly close to what 18z was showing except heavier precip on 0z.

Most of that precip showing up as zr in NC will likely be sleet.  Someone likely further south will surely have a BIG zr problem.

Can we al agree that an ice storm is caused by freezing rain and not sleet?  The ice storm area will likely be far removed  from the heavy snow line.

Yeah I mean I’ve seen some cold ZR with temps in the high teens but the icon had gso at 9F. That’s gotta be sleet or snow.
