Well, I wasn't expecting much until the squall later, but we've got a nice quarter inch coating on everything so far and still pixie dust snowing as I type.

Today is a good day to be a Penn State fan.

Have about an inch on the snowboard so far, getting into a bit of a lull ahead of the snow squall line. Winds have been surprisingly feisty for most of the duration of this early steady snow with a lot of 25 mph+ gusts. So snow’s been blowing around a good bit.

This snow squall band continues to have occasional lightning strikes in it.

It’s here, whiteout and gust to 39.4mph

It’s still snowing quite hard, I’m pretty sure I have in the ballpark of 2-3” total but it’s been blowing around so much that it is going to be hard to get good measurements. Temps just prior to the squall arrival were up as high as 31.5ºF and now 45 minutes later it’s 21ºF. 

Looks like a rough go of it on the roads right now. This is the closest 511 cam to my house, about half a mile away.

I'm walking back from ruttters near mile marker 38.8 i just saw multiple flashes of lightning .

A pretty clean front edge.The city lights are lighting this thing up like a wall see if I can grab some video stills and put em up.

That was insane - woke me up with a huge lightning flash and a freight train of winds

Right after I saw the couple lightning flashes , there was also a few transformers that exploded to the north of my location. My New Year's resolution is to experience a lot more of those this winter, along with a couple big ones.

  I couldn't have asked for a better walk.  It's time to throw my beer and mustard marinated pork into my rocket, croc, full of slow fermented homegrowngrown, homemade sauerkraut along with a slow burn and a little sleep for the win. F******  A man, what a start to the new year.
