ChescoWx
We start February as we ended January with well below normal temperatures. I am working on completing the overall Chester County summary for January but at least here in East Nantmeal this January was the 4th coldest and 3rd snowiest across the 23 years I have been recording weather observations at this location. This well below normal stretch of temperatures looks to continue for at least the first 10 days of February. Today will be our 9th straight day with below freezing high temperatures. We do moderate through Tuesday with our best shot at getting above freezing being Tuesday. The current NWS forecast has a high here in EN of 30 degrees. There could be a few light snow chances over the next week with the first potential on Tuesday night a more likely shot by Friday and another chance possibly by next Sunday. For those on Team Snow the good news is February is on average our snowiest month of the year with East Nantmeal averaging 13.3" of snow in a typical 2nd month of the year. Chadzachadam
Crazy how used to the cold I’ve gotten. Wind chill of 0 this morning felt totally fine. At this rate I’ll be in shorts when we hit 40 3

I'd be willing to bet the low is somewhere in between both. 10 seems too high, -12 seems too low. I had 7F for a low yesterday morning and a 10 this morning. The reason? The winds never decoupled here. Literally had gentle breezes going all Friday night into Saturday morning, from ~1-2 mph with "gusts" of 4 mph. Kept it from radiating. Had the same (with higher winds) overnight this past night. Am currently up to 20 with dp 9. I noticed that some of snowpack on the southwest side of my house is eroding, am guessing from insolation because it certainly isn't from melting!

Hawk sighting earlier on my deck. Every Sunday, I listen to the recordings (they dub them podcasts but they just record their radio shows) of Andre Viette's "In the Garden" radio show and am usually a couple weeks behind their broadcasts, but still go through them in order and listening to one of the hours this morning, one of the callers was asking about those Cooper Hawks and whether there were more around nowadays versus in the past. And the response was that they are always generally around but the Cooper's are particularly active in December/January/February. When I used to live in a hi-rise on an upper floor, I had a visit by one who perched right on the balcony rail scoping the area for probably an hour or so. Then it suddenly dive-bombed right off the balcony and probably snagged a rabbit that I had earlier seen hopping around on the grass at the front of the building 18 stories down! Am currently at 23 (my weather station says "Feels like 15.3"), which is the warmest "high" here since January 26. The dp is still an arctic 10. Ralph Wiggum
I can say this with certainty....we are not finished wrt snowfall for this winter. Questions now are....clean storm? Thump to taint? Light events? Big storm? Im leaning towards a few lighter events and maybe a decent thump to shit as we roll into March. But those folks suggesting we are done just because we are in a cold/dry phase need to sit back and be patient. This season is very different as we have already seen. Analytics suggest a big storm isnt the norm in a Nina, but I wouldnt be surprised if we end with something 'blockbuster', whatever that may be. Things are reloading....buckle up folks. 2

The Iceman
I also don’t get the impatience, this winters been great. Most of 95 east is at or above average for the entire season. Relentless cold. If we get a clipper or two these next two weeks then another high qpf system on the rebound this year is a bonafide blockbuster year for most… 1

I have the winter at a solid B/B+ right now. Only factor not placing this winter into the "A" category is I am at avg snowfall for the season. We've had the cold, we've had the snow cover, we've had the very brief "thaw".....get me above avg snowfall and this winter becomes "A" class.

The Iceman
I would also be shocked if we got totally shut out snow wise in February after such a great winter… even in our shittiest shit winters we still usually get something in February. In solid winters like this, it’s almost unheard of.. I would bet on at least another 6” total for most(average).
Ralph Wiggum
I feel like every week since Thanksgiving we have been tracking 'something'. There may have been like a 5 day stretch in early Jan where there was nothing going on, but I know we've been tracking alot just going off of how mentally drained i am this year. Some years im away from this board for weeks at a time. This year there hasn't been a hiatus. Keep it coming!!
