No biggies but several nickle and dimes. Great wall-to-wall winter, actually. Technically, 17-18 and 20-21 also had above average December snowfall. December is already part of winter. Jersey got the brunt of that storm. I think Philly west just had flurries, and light accumulations

ChescoWx Posted yesterday at 03:40 PM Share Posted yesterday at 03:40 PM With our 0.8" of sleet and ice yesterday our December snow total is now at 11.2" this is the 5th most in December in the 23 years I have been at this location. Temperatures today will struggle to get to freezing so be careful out there. We warm to near 40 degrees tomorrow and then turn unseasonably warm on Monday with highs into the middle 50's. To go along with the warmer temperatures rain will arrive tomorrow night and last into Monday. The cold returns by Monday night and we will end the days leading into the New Year with well below normal temperatures.

I think it’s my favorite winter of my lifetime(born 1990) for that exact reason. wall to wall winter with really no warm spells til march. That never happens around here. JTA66 Posted yesterday at 04:02 PM Share Posted yesterday at 04:02 PM It was one of those rare winters where we’d be under a winter storm warning and already tracking the next threat.

ChescoWx
I notice the NWS has a high of 40 degrees tomorrow on my point and click but the NAM keeps highs within a couple degrees of freezing and the 18z shows some ZR as the rain arrives tomorrow PM edit that is because temps will continue to rise through the evening! simbasad2
Very low flow at 925mb has allowed for a near-stationary low-level cloud deck to develop. This is reflecting on the temp maps, where it is in the low 20s near Philadelphia and Bucks county, but holding around 30 degrees here in Chester County. Neat stuff
ChescoWx
Cloudy with temperatures slowly rising to near and then above freezing this evening. There could be a couple light showers this evening that in some of the higher ridge areas could briefly see some light icing if temperatures are still freezing when the showers arrive. The good news is temperatures will continue to rise tonight and well into the 40's tomorrow with a line of showers passing through in the morning. We will become sharply colder again tomorrow with temperatures dropping to freezing by evening. We then stay well below normal for the remainder of the week and into the first week of 2026. Next light snow chance looks possible around New Year's Day.

But then, even if we go back to averages it'll feel like a heatwave. Currently, people are in their basements crunching official numbers as I type...holidays or not they are crunching official Dec temp numbers. Dedicated individuals indeed. I'll be happy with a couple flakes this afternoon. 32F, cloudy, cold with snow piles around and the Birds play soon, all good in my book... Well at least for East Nantmeal (not all of Chesco sites) -7.3 below normal. I plugged in the NWS forecast to close out the month. We will finish around 6 degrees below normal and it will be the 2nd coldest December at my location in the 23 years I have been here. Behind only 2010. Behind only 2010. Its not just the below average temperatures which are/were good for December. But we had snow/lingering snow during the holidays with Christmas lights on which continued in little small burst. A quick small warm up than a cold blast to close out the year is fitting....
