There have been winters that provided remarkable snow and ice events. Long duration cold, MECS, etc. nothing weird about that.

I grew up in Dover, DE.  We had lots of good winters between 1977 and 1996.  At least 4 16"+ storms and good stretches of deep cold, iced/skating ponds, etc.

Thats a bummer. Some feel the Mid Atlantic will do well because it is a Nina and its December, however I think we end the month below normal snowfall here, which by Dec. climo is not that much anyway, as far as temps its up and down. Basically nothing remarkable down here. Winters are not great anymore for cold and snowlovers in my hood.

that is why i will move to new england when i get the chance

I remember seeing AI much further north and was thinking it was wrong.
Let’s replace us all with machines baby.

Fully nude ready to do leaves all day. Looking forward to a few crisp Pilsners and loud power tools all afternoon.

Weather related: a weaker polar vortex = colder air in New England.

Yeah that's good, but as a weenie, I didn't know if we want a weak or strong polar vortex.

Now, my question: wouldn't that upper level flow also be conducive to surface low pressure riding up the East Coast? I.e., storm track?

Thanks!

So the AI had the rain getting up in here, and the other non AI guidance did not?

Appears that way. But I just casually looked yesterday. Maybe there were some north trends or things we look for winter like deformation areas etc.
