ChescoWx Posted yesterday at 01:03 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 01:03 PM Today should be almost 10 degrees warmer than yesterday...but still a few degrees below normal for mid-November with highs in the upper 40's to around 50 degrees. Temperatures look to stay near to below normal through Saturday before we briefly warm to above normal Sunday before falling back below normal to start the new work week. Our next rain chance looks to arrive Saturday night into Sunday.

ChescoWx
I have continued to update the Chester County Weather website and have now completed and added a listing of the largest Chester County snowstorms across the 7 months of the year - October through April that we have recorded snow events. https://chescowx.com/top-snowfalls-by-month/ this includes the 2nd largest snowstorm in County history that occurred in March 1958 when between 19" to as much as 50" of snow fell across Chester and SE Berks Counties. See below.
ChescoWx
Climate factoid of the day. Someone posted last week that it seems like it never snows before Christmas here in Chester County. So, I went back and looked to see how often we have not recorded any measurable snow by Christmas Day. The data shows we actually have seen measurable snow 92% of the time before Christmas. There have only been 11 years across 132 years of record that no station in the county recorded measurable (more than a trace) of snow. Those years were 1899 / 1918/ 1956 / 1965 / 1974 / 1991 / 1999 / 2001 / 2006 / 2015 and 2021.

NepaJames8602
Hey everyone! Posted in the wrong forum last night lol. Anyways, I had my first snow accumulations yesterday from the les. I was at work all day, but checking my cameras it actually snowed all day. Didnt have much for accumulations at work near Scranton Pa. When I got home, a very different story in my part of the Poconos at 2,075' feet. Had about 2 inches on the grass and near 3" on my deck. Pretty much nothing on roadways. I was quite surprised regardless. Nice little event for Nov 11th. I Included a photo when I got home last night at 630 pm. Just saying hello to everyone and fingers crossed for a good upcoming snow season!

mahantango#1
Our forecast for the next 5 weeks keeps with the cold in the Commonwealth. We see a majority of the next 35 days featuring high temperatures below average. We also think there's a potential for our final 6 cities in the Snowflake Contest to fall.

Indeed the very next run of that model used to make this map showed something vastly different with a arctic cold air not advancing nearly that for deep on the East Coast. Like I said in the three week newsletter ....the Thanksgiving long holiday weekend was consists of four days will be it. of transition. conditions are going to turn colder and things are going to start shaping up for what could be a very Act of December. BUT... this sort of massive Arctic outbreak in late November is not supported by the data nor is it supportive of other things such as the MJO

Part of my job in regards to corrective actions is having 1X1 meetings with employees who violate what's essentially our code of conduct. It amazes (okay, saddens) me how many people in society today have lost the ability to treat others well. It isn't hard. If you don't have something nice to say, shut your mouth and walk the other way. I think the ability to hide behind a keyboard has emboldened people to say things they would have never said face to face prior to the internet/cell phone use. 2

WTF Experienced that band as it slipped s.e here at work in Scranton. I saw the flashes to the nw. Was mainly graupel/ rain mix here in the valley as the band was decaying, but a short intense bout. Pretty wild!
