Most spots across the area saw between 0.10" to 0.22" of rain last evening through the overnight hours. With that frontal passage last night, we will turn back to below normal temperatures for much of the rest of the week and likely to finish the month of October. This means we will probably finish October with below normal temperatures. This would be our 5th below normal temperature month over the 1st 10 months of 2025. Our valley locations will likely see another freeze each morning between Friday and Sunday. The higher ridge spots (above 600 feet ASL) will likely see no more than some patchy frost and continue their growing (freeze free) season into November. The growing season has ended for most valley locations across our area. We look dry for at least the next week.

Makes me want to flush myself down a toilet lol

I mean, I really do understand. And I sympathize especially with people that suffer from seasonal depression. For me, the onset of longer nights symbolizes the beginning of the holidays and our "snow season." Also helps me transition from lightweight athletic shorts to something more appropriate for the season...lightweight athletic shorts. (with a light hoodie)

I'm a weird bird in that I love the holidays, I've even come to love Halloween since having a child and have always loved fall/winter (even though I am starting to become a bit of a warminista) but hate the darkness.

If we could have 20 hours of sunshine and a dry cold from November 1 - March 15, I'd consider that a jackpot.

I noticed the same thing when checking my P&C this morning ha. Nice and boring.
I think the last 5 years have been about as boring as possible in these parts. Especially the last 2-3 years. I keep thinking, incorrectly, that it can't last that much longer. We are on the verge of losing a whole generation of weineies around these parts due to it.

Yeah people complain about the weather no matter where they live but ours really is so benign compared to most regions. I’ve always thought we live in a top-notch weather location. I love it here.

I agree except we do get wild wind compared to most everyone not on a mountain.

Even with that, I think we have a tendency to underestimate just how bad the wind is in other areas. Anyone from the Midwest will tell you how it blows relentlessly. The lack of friction makes even meager pressure gradients gustily perform. My best friend lived in western Ohio for many years and to this day talks all the time about how nonstop and annoying the wind was. But I hear ya, when our winter winds kick up it can be hard to imagine anything worse haha.

This. The darkness is the worst part of winter. Of course, being a truck driver, I'm not fond of snow, either, but getting dark at 4:30pm is very depressing.

Hazleton must sit at the right elevation for some kind of upper level jet stream. It can be dead calm everywhere else (especially Tamaqua) but wicked windy up here in the Humboldt Industrial Park where I'm based out of. Even the early morning, when winds are usually the calmest of the day.

This would have been an epic lake effect snow event if only we had the cold air.

Lake is still pretty warm, I think 62 degrees .

49 degrees for the low this morning.

The NWS has issued a Frost Advisory for tonight for the entire area. However, many spots below 500 ft ASL in Chester County have already seen multiple freezing mornings. Those valley spots may again see freezing temperatures while some higher spots could see some frost but likely staying above freezing. For the rest of October, we should see below normal temperatures with daytime highs falling from the upper 50's today to the low 50's for highs by the start of the new work week. Lows should be frosty most mornings with a widespread freeze possible by next Monday and Tuesday mornings. We stay dry until our next chance of showers on Tuesday night.
