Gut feeling, we're going to see the team that we thought we were going to see back on August 30th but never materialized. I think it'll be close and the Lions pull it off with a late turnover. I'm in a pick em' league here at work - it's both NFL and NCAA. We have 24 in the group. Last night, 23 had the Steelers, 1 had the Bungles. Guess who had Cincinnati? I will gladly accept whatever wrath I deserve following tomorrow night's game. Wow, I love the optimism, but I am, uuummm, on the complete opposite side as you haha. I think Grunk will be totally overwhelmed in his first start in an environment like that and the team eventually just fades in the second half. I can't get the images of that one game in Iowa City out of my head.......the one where our backup had to come in because Clifford got hurt (I think Robeson was the kid's name?) and he was completely overwhelmed and the game turned into a total sh&t-show. I could be messing up some details but yeah, you get the gist. As always, I hope to be wrong!

I've suffered enough.
ChescoWx
Now that we are done with any 90+ degree days. Below is the by-decade trend of the average number of 90+ days across Chester County PA from the 1890's through the 2020's. There is a clear decline at all elevations in the number of such hot days. In fact, the 2020's are trending to be the 2nd lowest number of average 90-degree days behind only the 1970's.

WmsptWx Posted yesterday at 11:50 AM Share Posted yesterday at 11:50 AM The dead cat bounce is a real thing. My suspicion is that Penn State has been playing on edge all season because they knew the end result was likely what happened last Sunday. James Franklin asked for *more* money in the off-season and apparently was too concerned with hiring flashy coordinators in the last few seasons. The team was unprepared for NEVADA much less Oregon, and that was because of the head coach. Andy Kotelniki now has to prove his worth more than he ever has. Jim Knowles needs to prove it wasn't just the athletes at Ohio State that got him paid. There are no expectations as "going bowling" seems unlikely. Penn State throttles Iowa. Mount Joy Snowman Posted yesterday at 01:09 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:09 PM Low of 47. Splendid day today. Took the kids to see Hempfield’s big win last night. Now let’s see if Penn State can rally the troops and do the same. I have my doubts. Onward.
ChescoWx Posted yesterday at 01:45 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 01:45 PM Of note today back in 1972 we recorded our earliest measurable snowfall in the county area. Between 1" to 3" of snow fell across the higher ridges of NW Chester County. Interestingly that winter of 1972-1973 ended up being the least snowy winter in County history. In fact, that is the only winter season that no measurable snow was recorded at Coatesville. No snow chances this season till next month. Today we warm nicely well into the 60's with low to mid 70's by tomorrow as we enjoy a little Indian Summer for those spots that have already seen a freeze this season. Rain chances to ramp up by Sunday night into Monday morning. We then turn chillier again for the upcoming work week.

WmsptWx
Penn State's offensive line is "tits on a nun" level of useless. I don't know now this unit could get so bad so quick. I don't really think it matters who is under centre with these guys up front. Having said that, Kotelniki using Smolik throughout is showing more creativity than Franklin had allowed at any point prior to this week, and if the line could actually block, Allen and Smolik likely have enough yardage between the two of them to force Iowa's secondary to come in a bit and the receivers would get a little bit of separation. But damn this line stinks.

ChescoWx
One last mild above normal temperature day today before some showers arrive after midnight tonight and turn us back to below normal temperatures for the rest of the upcoming week. Rain tonight looks like between 0.25" to 050" across the area. The only other chance of rain this week looks to be Tuesday night. Highs looks to be in the 50's and lows in the 30's for much of the late week period.
