Maggie Valley Steve
My low was 12 this morning. My high yesterday was 23. Cataloochee has been making snow non stop since 10 PM Wednesday night. The mountain looks awesome and ready for the busy Holiday Weekend!
Maggie Valley Steve
I don't know folks. The 12Z 3km NAM sure is keying in on the Balsams and Cataloochee Mountains overnight. That model suggests 6 to 8 inches around here. Cut the totals in half and it's still 3 to 4 inches.

wncsnow
I would like to be on Mt Leconte tonight. Should be really interesting with convective precip and heavy snow squalls (maybe thunder?)

How many times have we heard this one, just amazing how none of these storms pan out.

I remember back in December 2018, the year we moved to Boone, my weather apps were all honing in on a period of snow from ~Dec. 8 to the 10th, and we ended up getting almost 2 feet out of that storm here in Deep Gap. I watched that period of snow stay shown on the apps for about a month before it happened. I'm still not sure how we zeroed in on that at least a month ahead of time and it still panned out, but I will always remember that. That being said, there has been constant freezing precip showing up for the 23-25th time period for about a month now. Just sayin.
Boonelight
28.8º here, hopefully we can squeeze another inch out of tonight's system. I'm hopeful for at least more than the dusting we got Thursday.
