Cary got smacked. We’re just shy of 4” here and looks like some areas doubled that around Cary

I don't even want to describe the ride to work. Nothing in fuquay....got to crossroads and it went crazy...around 7:30am....I did not expect it. It took me 1.5 hours to get to Wade Park. It's a normal 35 minutes. I was driving through 4 to 6 inches of water at times...I got to work and looked at the radar and turned around and went home! Lol...I cannot wait to see the totals!

You'll know it's October when we have out annual fall heat ridge and you're carving pumpkins in 90 °F heat.

I know fall is nigh because of all the Halloween decorations and candy in stores. Pumpkins will be for sale at Harris Teeter within a month.

It’s foggy and 69 at Winston-Salem. The fogs of August are really big this year

High of 82.8 at 4:10pm. 5.22" over the whole event. 6.20" for the month so far. Can't believe the flooding at Bond Park!

Separately, this may be the last transmission from my OG Davis Vantage Vue. I'm tired of replacing the battery (also $$$) as I've fallen victim to the capacitor issue. Also developed comms issues with the station.

2008-2025, RIP. Looking forward to the new touch screen model scheduled to arrive next week.

I’m on my second Vantage Vue. I didn’t realize they had come out with a new touchscreen model.

Showers, some heavy, (no thunder so far) are now moving in here in a WSW direction.

Edit 4PM: More heavy rain falling again from a band of showers moving SW.

After this, I got several more rounds of rain through the evening of 7/8 adding to that gotten yesterday afternoon adding up to a total of ~1.3”. After emptying that, I then through the early morning hours (7/9) received heavy showers coming off the ocean with the heaviest 5-5:30AM. I estimate 2” from the late night through now (7:40AM) with light rain still falling. All of this is on top of the 6” I got Aug 1-6! So, I’m at ~9.3” Aug 1 through 7:40AM of Aug 9!

My water table is ridiculously high. Fortunately though due to the rains being spread out enough, I’ve yet to have any garage flooding this month despite heavy puddling of rain sitting just outside the garage. However, more heavy rains are possible over the next few days.

Not one but two flash flood warnings were up for the county since late afternoon yesterday (8/8)!
