North and West Posted December 29, 2025 Share Posted December 29, 2025 It’s got to be a real experience living in one of these supertalls. The Brooklyn Tower is having the same issues as 432 Park. Very loud noises and more sway than the residents were told about before they bought or rented. I worked for a week in WTC 4 a few years ago and went home every day feeling like I was on a boat. Also had a sobering moment in a cocktail bar on the 60th floor of a building when I went to look out the window and noticed the shades swaying side to side. The construction used lally columns which allowed the apartment to sway when wind gusts started getting over 30-40 mph. So you could visibly see the hanging light fixture from the ceiling swaying from side to side. The cat would stare at this a meow especially during nor’easters. It's one of our fastest warming times of the year in these parts. One of my earliest memories, which may have been exaggerated by the years, was of it seeming like every morning waking up to a new snowfall. Mid to late 60s, maybe early 70s it would have been, probably more than 1 winter. He tells me once “I went from Williamsport to here on a quarter tank of gas. Isn’t that good?!” “I don’t know, maybe. How big is your tank and how many miles was it?” I replied. Looking at me kinda complexed he says, “I’m not sure of the gas tank size but it was a quarter of a tank!
