Pretty good.

I've been seeing a lot of specialists and undergoing a lot of tests. Most everything I've had done to this point has come back favorably. I do have a heart issue, likely hereditary that will need to be addressed at some point. Mainly due to that, I've (we including my wife) have made some significant dietary changes. Today marks exactly 2 months since I first went into the ER (just realized that as I write this) and over the past 60 days I've lost 27 pounds and I feel SO much better. Back to the heart, the issue that will need addressed is my aortic valve, the good news is that it's in much better shape than originally feared. I was originally diagnosed with "moderate stenosis" but after further testing, blood work, etc. it is now considered "minimal."

My recent blood work and vitals were probably the best numbers I've had since I was a young adult. BP is fantastic, Cholesterol is good. I probably exercise slightly more than I did prior to all of this but just changing what I put into my system is paying off. I can't stress enough how important it is to eat good, healthy foods. Veggies, nuts, fruits...and lean meats. No eating after supper. No, or very little in the way of sugary drinks.

It matters.

Sorry for late reply, i wasn't on until now. Sounds like you're on the mend. Glad to hear. Diet is key, along with exercise. i have found that Good supplements is a bonus in addition to diet and exercise. I'd rather take supplements the pharmaceuticals.

I feel better now than I did before all of this started. I'm on a mission. Lots of places I want to visit yet.

Hi all...

Just popping in with my current data.  My official station has hit 99.3 degrees back at 3:13 and is now 98.6 with a dew point of 75.5 degrees and a heat index of 113 degrees.  My backup station which is located about 15 feet away is currently 99.7 degrees after hitting a high of 100.2 and a current dew point of 75.7.  This combination is producing a heat index of 114 degrees.  The 100.2 now breaks last year's highest temp of 100.0 degrees by 0.2 degrees.  It's horrible out!!

I'll be back with final numbers this evening.  Stay cool...

High temps so far across Chester County have for the majority of stations been in the low to mid 90s. The hottest of course at KOQN Brandwine Airport at 98.6 degrees. The next warmest station just a few miles away was at the West Chester MADIS station at 95.9 degrees. Other area high temps so far West Grove 92.4 / East Nantmeal 92.1 / Avondale 93.2 / Atglen 93.6/ Glenmoore 93.9 and Chester Springs at 95.6

My high today from my official station was 99.3 degrees at 3:13pm.  The backup station located about 15 feet away recorded a maximum temp of 100.2 degrees at the same time that the 99.3 was recorded.  Dew points all day ranged from 74-76 degrees which produced heat index values between 110-115 degrees.  Last year's max high temperature was 100.0 degrees.  (I'll have to check on the date for that.  Most likely it was during July).  We only exceeded last year by +0.2 degrees.  However, I suspect we're setting up for a high temp Tuesday a little higher than today because tonight's minimum is going to be around 5 degrees warmer, around 77.  The last time my temperature reached 101 was back in 2018.  Then, the last time the temperature reached 102 degrees was during the summer of 2002, which was a particularly hot summer.

Finally, currently at 11:30pm I'm only down to 81.7 degrees with a heat index of 88 degrees and a dew point of 74.7.  See y'all tomorrow.

The Lancaster SPCA air conditioner died and they are in desperate emergency need of foster homes if anyone can help them.

3,000 residents were without power in the Littlestown area yesterday.  Also the Aspers Gardners sub station caught fire last night.  I’m not sure what effect that had on the grid but can’t be good.  Couldn’t  imagine not having ac through this heat wave.  At 3:30 this morning I sit at 81.

The green-shaded areas currently have higher dew points right now than Miami, Florida. All-time dew point records are being broken in the Northeast.
With dew points so high, the heat index or wet bulb globe temperature are more appropriate metrics for capturing the significance of this event. It gets in the 80s and 90s all the time, especially in the South, but with the high humidity pushing above the 90-95th+ percentile, this is what makes this event significant compared to climatology (aka, in most of our lifetimes).
I know, I know….I’ve seen all of the comments on our posts about, “well, it’s summer” or “you’re just using the heat index to make things seem worse.” While I understand and sympathize with those that have trust issues with the media, these are real metrics, developed by research meteorologists, that are legit. You’ve just got to know when it’s most appropriate to use them, and this is definitely one of those cases.
