Current ML lapse rates at 8+ and ML cape around 4500 near Fayetteville along with a touch of shear. Gotta watch out for popcorn storms with nasty microbursts, especially in the sand hills.

Also this mornings sounding smashed the all time record for ML cape for the 12z soundings data set at GSO: 3,632 vs the old record of 3,588 set in 1983. In fact only four soundings have ever exceeded 3,000

Cells already starting to pop up between Raleigh and Rocky Mount.  Anything that breaks through the CINH will have plenty of fuel today.

We hit 100.8 but mercifully an outflow from those storms hit and we’ve fallen to 95.1

Outflow-cooled 89 now feels like fall lol. Storm east of here has an incredible amount of thunder coming from it

Wow managed to hit 100.6 today .. hottest day of heatwave.

Down to 78 with this storm from 101.2 at 1:20pm. Wundermap shows 60's! east of Raleigh. 

edit: The low this morning was 77.6 at 6:20am. We're now at 77.3.

Picked up a grand total of 0.02” even though it thundered for at least 4 hours straight. Temps did drop below our morning low, all the way to 78.7
