Woke up to overcast skies and found this. The whole of the bruce peninsula was cloaked in storms which is neat. Area under a STW:

6:08 AM EDT Wednesday 15 June 2022
Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:

  • Bruce Peninsula - Sauble Beach - Tobermory
  • Owen Sound - Blue Mountains - Northern Grey County
  • Saugeen Shores - Kincardine - Southern Bruce County

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Hazards:
Nickel sized hail.
Locally heavy downpours.

Timing:
This morning.

Discussion:
A line of strong thunderstorms has developed near Bruce Peninsula and is expected to move south this morning. Large hail and locally heavy downpours are the main threats.

Overnight low was 18C, nothing special. Mostly 20C+.

We reached 95º yesterday.  It was hot, but the dewpoint was only in the upper 60s and the wind was fairly strong, so it really didn't feel too bad.  Monday was more oppressive with a temp in the upper 80s and a dew in the mid to upper 70s.

came across this as I was searching for a few day northwoods vacation spot in July. Movin on....

It gets better as summer moves along. Water temps will rise, and it's much warmer away from the shoreline. MUCH warmer. :)

Correct sir…believe it or not, was just up there in early June. 60s during the day inland (50s on the water) and 40s at night.

don't mind it on my fishing trips but a beach vacation or a summertime northwoods visit might be pushing it.

With all the rain, and heat coming, mosquitoes/flies are going to be ferocious. Much, much worse than cool by the lake :)

ORD broke the record high today, which was from 1994 and also a couple other years.

As mentioned in a previous post, not a whole lot of high temp records have been broken during summer since 2013, so this is a fairly rare achievement as of late.
