December 8-9th Winter Storm

Chicago Storm

MKX Office FB page sounded ominous with numerous accidents and hospitals filled.  Hope things are manageable, it shows how important it is to consider LES and warn viewers/listeners.

I saw two minor accidents by 10:30am. There's was no salt on the roads and it was even a little slick with my AWD vehicle.

Linear banding showing up nicely.

Bank clock is 33

I was in Rogers Park on Friday night and the heat island effect there is incredible. It was 14 at my house in Glenview, 15 in downtown Skokie, 17 at Howard and McCormick and 20 at Howard and Clark according to my car thermometer.

On topic, flake size is trying to pick up here with some larger flakes slowly mixing in.

I live about 5 miles south of Howard and Clark at LSD and Foster. It's cold out now but it's just snowing way too light to stick on heavily trafficked roads

None of the models that I've looked at recently are picking up on this dry slot flying up this way.  No sign of redevelopment yet over southeast Iowa, or west-central IL.  Still some light snow falling there, but the lack of radar data in that area is abysmal.

Yeah that NE corner of MO has horrible coverage.

Looks like you have similar rates to what I have now.

Taken minutes ago.
