Ah, I was referring to a twilight zone episode where everyone was dying from extreme heat.

Yeah, The Midnight Sun...one of my three favorite TZ episodes...

It's hard for me to pick a top 3, because I'd also have to include the time travel episode where he can't kill Lincoln and another time travel episode where the protagonist travels to several different eras to try and change the future-- and instead, causes the events to actually happen. The Old Man in the Cave was really good also as a futuristic social commentary, as well as the one where the main character finds a small town hidden in a valley with an advanced society who are bent on keeping themselves secret. And then there are the sci fi episodes where there are aliens masking themselves as humans on earth, getting us to turn against each other and the one where it seems like an alien ship has landed on earth, but ironically, we learn that it's the other way around. I always loved those last minute plot twists lol.

After having experienced that big heat wave last July and the one this month, do you think this one was more extreme?

My other two favorites were Long Live Walter Jameson; which dealt with immortality and To Serve Man; which dealt with cooking...;) .

If you have time, consider watching the movie I posted...

Lol right. That'd be a little disappointing.

Yeah, that's what differentiates this summer from last year's-- last year we had long streaks of 90+ with a few 80s interspersed in between-- this year it's the reverse (although the extreme heat has been more impressive in terms of how the sun needs to work harder in order to make it this hot with the higher humidity.)

Haha that made me chuckle. I loved both of those too-- and "To Serve Man" was so popular that its plot has gotten used several times. The episode itself was based on a famous sci fi short story. Definitely looking into that movie.

Are we going to see the same temps as we are seeing now?

Will be tough to top yesterday but upper 90s, perhaps a few century mark readings possible, especially Fri/sat as it looks now. If we contnue to be dry and with limited clouds it may do the trick. Still plenty of time, but this is a warm patern..

The Jan. 20 timeframe is generally the coldest part of the year, as the July 20th timeframe is generally the hottest...

Of course summer shuts off alot faster though it seems....we often see 20s for lows in March and even some days in April in the 40s....how many days do we get even in the 70s in October? It seems some years we never break 72 after October 5th.

Yep, but in my experience we do get a couple of 90s into September.

I was impressed that many places managed to get to 100 today despite all the clouds we had. It probably would've been just as hot as yesterday if they weren't here.

Despite similar temps, it did feel noticeably cooler today, though it still felt like you were getting raped by mother nature every time you stepped outside.

three straight days with minimums 80 or better might be a record...But it might dip below 80 before midnight if we get some showers...

Yeah I had 2 consecutive nights of 80F here, which I don't ever recall for my area.

Already hit 90 at 930am, down to 88 and OVC now.

Yeah,it looks like two days in a row with minimums of 80 or above may be the maximum from the past for Central Park.

7/6-7/7.......2010

7/3-7/4.......2002

7/5-7/6.......1999

8/14-8/15...1988

8/8-8/9.......1980

8/6-8/7.......1918

7/31-8/1.....1917

August 1988 came close to four days in a row but could only manage 2.

8/12....80

8/13....79

8/14....80

8/15....81
