This number is extremely misleading for the Detroit area, especially since for whatever reason DTW missed out on most of the storms in the last 15 days but the rest of the Metro area received >2.00" in that period with some areas receiving much more. For example DET is 1.78" FNT is 2.28", both closer to normal and not nearly as bad as .94"

Maybe, in the northern suburbs, but to the south, it's been even drier. Toledo Express had 0.51" for the month, Toledo Metcalf had 0.83", and Adrian, MI had 0.86".

Again though, this is one small region that is abnormal to the rest of the area. Compare those numbers to Fort Wayne at 3.25", South Bend at 4.70", Cleveland at 2.92," and Mansfield at 2.88". Basically beyond Toledo up to Metro, there really isn't a dry area in the region.

To illustrate that point, here's the last 30 days of precip...

All Time Record High Tied in Dodge City on 26 June

The temperature soared to 110 degrees at the Dodge City Airport late Sunday afternoon. This tied the highest observed temperature at the Dodge City Airport since official weather observations began back in November 1874. The temperature also reached 110 degrees on 29 June, 1998. Very dry air moved into southwest Kansas Sunday afternoon, and the relative humidity at the hottest time of the day was less than 7%!

The 110 degree high established a record for 26 June, breaking the previous record of 108 established in 1998.

Other record highs established on 26 June included 108 in Garden City, breaking the old record of 106 established in 1998 and 111 in Medicine Lodge, breaking the old record of 106 established in 1918.

Among the cooperative obseration sites, Ashland established a record high temperature of 114 degrees, breaking the record of 112 set in 1994. The 114 degree reading ties the all time record in Ashland. Offical records for Ashland date back to 1900. Greensburg reached a high of 110 degrees, breaking the old record of 106 established in 1936.

Interesting to see Dodge City tied the all-time high Sunday. Looks like they have a decent shot of breaking it over the next couple days, as temperatures of 108 to 113 look to infiltrate the area.

Today around Chicago had to be arguably the day of the year. Tempered breezes, low humidity, uninterrupted sunshine, and tons of hot chicks at the pool and gym. Yes thank you sir can we have another...great great day all over the midwest.

Amen, brah! Here's to many more of those! These are the kinds of days you just want to crack open a brewskie and sit by the pool soaking up all the golden rays of sunshine!

Other way around, generally on the wet side of things, with extreme SEMI and NWOH being dry.

I think about half the Midwest was dry and half was wet:

It was very hit or miss. One thunderstorm could basically make or break your June precipitation. Just look at Saginaw. They had a record 3"+ of rain from a thunderstorm in 3 hours to give them the rainiest June day ever and one of the top rainiest summer days ever. Go a few miles over and it was a dry month.

Haven't had a chance lately due to the cloud cover but its 10:10 est here in metro detroit and there is still some light to the sky to the west. Never paid attention or got into sunsets but this has to be the latest it's been this light in awhile. Perhaps it's normal for this time of the year but just thought I'd see if anyone has anything to add.

Thursday is going to be an interesting day across much of the plains. Potential widespread 78-80+ dewpoints with widespread 100's farther S and W near the dryline. We may be pushing 102+ here.

In late June it stays light long time.

Yea I know but there was still light at 1030 and just didn't remember it being still light that late. Figured 930 was as late as you still saw light.

Where have you been all your life?lol. FWIW, firework shows for the 4th of July usually start around here about 10:15, as that's when it's dark enough but there is always still light in the sky at that time. Sunrise and sunset is a set time for each calendar day, it doesn't change randomly. lol
