Winds are already exceeding guidance forecasts. This suggests coastal flooding may end up worse than expected in south-facing areas such as the South Shore of LI and coastal southern CT.

Coastal flooding averted here. The water is up to the top of the bulkhead here in the canals of Long Beach but not over. (based on my current observation and high tide being in an hour)

Looks like the strongest winds will not coincide with high tide here as well as they should come with the heavy convection to the west a few hours after high.
