  1. Lighting fast groomers at Stratton today. Along with the biggest mid week crowds I have ever seen.
  2. I really I hope I see a VEI 7 In my lifetime. That would bring a 1800s style winter. We are due
  3. I was thinking mt hood but I checked the forecast and it doesn’t match. Obviously some high elevation spot out west.
  4. Any reports from MV? Close but so far here on the south shore of Long Island, dark cloud bank to the south that just sits and redevelops hour after hour.
  5. Looks like the wind/flow has just enough south in it now to bring the ocean effect bands close enough for fire island to see some flakes. I can see the dark cloud bank from south wantagh.
  6. Definitely the winter of the haves and have nots. Ask people in Buffalo if this winters a bust. Or anyone above 1,000’. And now throw in the Vineyard. I was lucky enough to experience hours of SN+++ last Friday in SVT and waist deep powder Saturday morning. So it’s all about perspective.
  7. It was so ridiculous on the uws yesterday. Probably the most I have ever seen on Broadway. Horrible for the environment, especially when it’s going to linger for days and days with no precip. I didn’t use any salt on campus and things were just fine. I took a leaf blower and blew away areas I know water collects.
  8. Not this far north and west, it would be the south shore of eastern Suffolk. Not enough fetch to produce snow and further west
  9. Bands are drifting north, may clip the south shore now. Same for Buffalo they are catching a break currently
  10. It’s too bad we do not have any regular posters on the MV. This might be an all time ocean effect snow event for them.
  11. Moderate was short, mainly just light snow. Going to be tuff to get a coating before it drys out
  12. Interesting weather day for sure. But currently in Buffalo is down right dangerous. Multiple hours with heavy snow and winds gust to 70. With temps in the teens that’s high end blizzard stuff
  13. I think allot of it had to do with wind direction. Usually during coastal storms that produce flooding the wind is NE which is more of a side shore flow. SE wind fits the Ny bight perfectly. One of the many reasons sandy was in a league by itself.
  14. Some tree bending gusts and blinding rain, serious conditions driving to work from the island to the City
  15. They really under call their snow amounts too. Reporting 24” for the big storm, maybe at the base but mid mountain up was definitely over 30”. Then another 5” from a lake streamer Monday didn’t hurt. I’ll be up all next week, praying for as little damage as possible but the trees will be glacial no matter what and out of play until we get another natural snow. Planning on doing a Vt tour with a sugarbush and Kill day.
  16. Exactly, they had 30 back on relatively quick. My place is still out and the tree is still on the wires. I pumped the fireplace hard both nights. Heading back to Long Island now. If I was a full timer up here I would own a generator
  17. Storm total of 16” at 1,000’. Finally heading to the mountain as a tree was blocking our road which we just cut up. Can’t wait to see what’s above 2,500’ power will prob be out for a while
  18. Another 2” here at my house 1,000’ takes us to 12” of cement. Still no power. Probably another 4-6” above 2,500 so Getting to around 30. Anything the rest of the night brings this one higher on the all time list for the SVT Mountains
  19. Your going to see some insane snow amounts as it’s still ripping here! Enjoy
  20. Yes, one of the best all day powder days I have had in years. 20” by last chair at Stratton. It snowed so hard it was near white out at times. Out west type day. One I’ll never forget
  21. Power is out now with sounds of cracking and crashing coming from the trees. We just went from beautiful and historic to a pain in the ass in SVT
  22. We were just discussing this at my house. Every time It looked like a break was headed up from the south it would just fill in. My theory is the upslope component is so strong it fills in the gaps of the synoptic snow. Im impressed your doing so well on the west slopes. I heard downtown Manchester was mainly rain!
  23. So far about 10” of pure cement at 1000’ west townshend SVT. Moderate snow continues, a few more inches here. The big snow is over 2500’ with an estimated 20” at Stratton for last run. Snowed various levels of SN+ the entire day. Wouldn’t be surprised if 30 is in reach. Elevation and east slope upslope for the win.
  24. Another foot here and we are heading into the all time greats. Pretty amazing storm at elevation. Going to need those blacks tomorrow with over 30”
