  1. A take home that’s always missed is this will Set the whole western Atlantic in motion. Large swells will effect the entire east coast causing deadly rip currents and beach erosion. Once clear of Hispaniola this has a good shot at getting to cat 4 and then later an expanding wind field will further the swell production. .
  2. And a massive swell producer. That a great track for a truly large swell. Assuming it’s a large cat 3 barreling up the coast .
  3. That one single connective area near the center is interesting. Lots of surprises in store due to warm water and peak climo .
  4. Agreed, it had a fully intact eyewall at our latitude and devastated cape cod. There would have been gusts well over 100mph for much of Long Island with a Gloria track .
  5. I think this has a 50/50 shot at dissipation. It does have peak climo and very warm water though. .
  6. It’s really really bad. More dead trees on the wantagh and southern state everyday. Amazing what a few miles can do. .
  7. Good for wantagh at least they got something. Here in Lynbrook, not even a drop. Heading into another extend dry period. I guess we will be adding to the dead tree count around here. Good thing i watered my plants last night, as I had a feeling this repeating pattern would continue .
  8. At least your area made a turnaround. Grass is pretty resilient and can bounce back after periods of being dormant. What I’m noticing out here on the island for areas that haven’t had any rain is the tree damage seems most severe in man made locations. For example parkway ramps. Ground water is gone in those locations. However when you look at undisturbed forest there is still enough ground water left for the trees to be hanging on. .
  9. Exactly. I’ll grab some pictures of Hempstead lake, they will be worth more then me trying to describe it. As we are heading into more Strataform rain season things will even out more, but the deficits will remain on the SS. .
  10. Shows satellite with two active hurricanes… I guess he doesn’t realize he doesn’t reside at the center of the universe. I’ll take all the waves earl will be sending to the east coast this weekend with a giant smile .
  11. I was straight up angry when I woke up for work at 430 and looked outside to see dry ground. Luckily thats changing currently. The batch moving in from the SW looks tasty. I don’t think I have ever been so Glued to the radar for a rain event. This is do or die for allot Long Island plants and trees .
  12. Amazing, the south shore is like 1” .5” .25” 0 for a total of 1.75” since June first. Hempstead lake is gone. All the trees surrounding it are dead. This isn’t just needed rain… .
  13. Amazing how accurate the models were with the line segments. We will Lucky to wet the ground city east. And the drought will intensify .
  14. Line looks Beautiful over Pa currently. I’m fact the best organized squall line of the season. It is coming a little late, with the dry ground, let’s see what makes it .
  15. Dry ground feedback. Also the urban heat island storm suppression. I wish there were more research on that. .
  16. I was referring more to the south shore of Long Island which has received significantly less rain. I’ll be happy to take some pictures of vast swaths of dead oaks on the wantagh parkway for you this weekend, when it will be even worse then it was. This is every bit as bad as out west (locally). Just wait until we have 30mph nw winds and low dews in September and one of the barrier islands light up. For reference the sunrise highway fires .
  17. Very true. Patterns like to lock in and stay. We are experiencing that in the NYC area with a pretty serious drought that keeps intensifying. .
  18. That would be a dream scenario for east coast surfers. Prolific swell producer with no landfall worries. One thing is for sure, plenty of untouched warm waters to feed off of .
  19. Unfortunately if you see an oak that has turned brown it’s dead. Some other trees like red maples for example will turn yellow and gradually shed leaves. Those may survive. But overall this is extremely serious. I don’t even want to think about what another hot dry two weeks will do .
  20. It’s been burned to a crisp. Just more proof that, that’s the issue, as if we needed any. As bad as the drought is in the city, it’s a whole other level on the south shore. At this rate there will be serious forest damage and the potential for west coast style fires once we get our first strong cold front and NW winds .
  21. It’s really going to get bad… massive tree die off incoming. Not to mention the fire danger .
  22. Part of me is pretty sad that the drought will intensify on the south shore of Nassau, with many trees already dead or dying. On the the other hand I find any extreme weather event interesting. .00” for yesterday in wantagh at my parents and .00” at my place in Lynbook .
  23. The brick wall Effect is a amazing heading towards the city. Although there are many factors, the bone dry ground from there east is an contributor .
  24. .34” on the uws. Just enough to help slow catastrophe. I did notice allot of trees browning and yellowing on the southern state yesterday. Some do it as a defense mechanism and will be fine (assuming we break the drought soon) others are straight up dying. .
  25. It’s absolutely mind boggling. I would have bet the farm this year would be hyperactive. This could be the climate change issue that keeps storm numbers low in the Atlantic .
