  1. Still heard katydids last night.
  2. Took a drive down Wantagh parkway to Jones beach. Down right stormy near the water. Couple trees and limbs down. Wind has a lot of East to it and isn’t pushing too far inland. It’s windy at my house but it’s a different feeing 3 miles south along the immediate coast.
  3. Very much like the weatherflow. Sleek all in one design. Like others have said, it’s not there yet for accuracy on the rainfall, but everything else is nice. I think I spotted you on the weatherflow map way up there in the NW corner of NJ
  4. Give me some blocking and our well above normal SST and lets roll the dice on a monster
  5. 78... a 4:30 PM high like its July
  6. 77.7 today is the October max temp at my site. Beating out a couple 77.6's lol.
  7. Water temperature at the harbor entrance buoy is nearly 70 again. lol . That just seems ridiculous for Oct 15. Wind Direction (WDIR): S ( 170 deg true ) Wind Speed (WSPD): 9.7 kts Wind Gust (GST): 11.7 kts Atmospheric Pressure (PRES): 29.88 in Water Temperature (WTMP): 69.6 °F
  8. I am actually trying to decide if tomorrow is a beach day or if the south winds ahead of the front will be too much... today and yesterday were legitimate beach days any way you slice it.
  9. I still hear katydids every night.
  10. I was thinking about this old thread the other day too. I have noticed much less of a lightning bug season this year around here as well. I wonder if it is just more a natural ebb and flow in the population and less about the weather.
  11. Another perfect summers day on the beach. Odette really showed up. Head high and glassy with light NW wind.
  12. 79.3 max dew point today. Hitting 75 is getting easy but 80 still remains elusive.
  13. 90/77. Heat sucks…. Oh wait, not if you live near the beach and play hooky from work
  14. 3.10 on my weather flow but it’s almost certainly too low. The wantagh mesonet is 4.5” and that lines up with the radar estimates. I do like the weather flow devices for everything else beside the way it measures rain. It’s some sort of algorithm based on the size of the rain drops. Sorry, but no technology beats measuring water in a bucket.
  15. This could easily be Fixed
  16. Take a look at some of the local weather flow stations in the area. Must have been something that came up around 5:30-6:00AM. A couple stations in Levittown up to 40mph plus and I gusted to 52 in Seaford. Most of these weather stations are probably very sheltered and not at 10M, so 40-50mph readings are pretty high. https://tempestwx.com/map/40.8322/-97.097/3
  17. Must of had some very localized cell that came over my area just before 6AM. Had a couple gusts over 50 and sustained in the 30s for about 10 minutes which is wild because my station is at a height of 23 feet but the house in general is sheltered from good wind readings. My two closest official stations at FRG and the mesonet at wantagh didn’t show it. However, two other weather flow stations within a mile of me had the same thing
