  1. Spent veterans day with these dudes and dudettes. Got cold when the sun went down.
  2. Eh. I think he leans into CC every time we have a warm spell and lets face it, there a lot of warm spells to chirp over. Gets old. However when it comes to a winter storm he will call balls and strikes fairly. Good met, if a little cantankerous.
  3. But you can still say you got hurt skiing. Unlike, say, breaking your arm while taking out the garbage.
  4. That is actually faster than the speed of sound at that altitude. Its more like 600 MPH up there. We’ve had non supersonic flights get from US to UK in 5 hrs riding a 200 MPH jet. It does happen.
  5. Tis the season for posting 300 plus hr. GFS fantasy storms, about a month later than usual due to CC, though. This will verify….as rain. Note its a Saturday.
  6. Yeah but isn't that a cold outcome (like very bad cold)? Thinking there would no longer be a heat transfer from the tropics to northern latitudes without the gulf stream transport mechanism. Doomsday scenario for Europe...
  7. I always say if you don’t like the cost of a product or the way a corporation does things, the simplest solution is don’t buy the product from that company. Consumers are enabled in this regard. Simple. Their power is the money, and that is the enabling power that the consumers actually hold.
  8. He took a lot of gruff for that and well deserved. That is whats in the top photo, but he was more dramatic in the video.
  9. Seems a little silly they would mention sea level rise in 30 year terms as though it is some new phenomenon. It's been rising for 4,000 years at a rate of 1 foot for every 100 hundred years. Below is the measurement from the Battery, downtown Manhattan. The measurement from 1920 to 2020 is right on the money.
  10. The move here is to shop around, keep looking, talking about getting one, checking reviews, and then do NOT actually buy one. Then you will be kicking yourself in April because you didn’t buy one, and it snowed like hell all season. Thats the winning formula.
  11. I like when a storm transforms the landscape. So when we have nothing but brown and gray ground, and suddenly a storm comes in and drops 6 inches, it looks amazing out in short order. So I don’t need pack. It makes a 6 inch storm more exciting when there is nothing on the ground vs. when you already have a few inches down. I’ll take it, but I don't need it. Level 99 big dogs are awesome of course, but honestly one or 2 days later when the snow has blown off the trees and the streets are cleared and black (or white with salt), I don’t care about the snow storm anymore. The model watching is over, the radar watching is over, the nowcasting is over, the snow falling is over, the HWO and warnings are off…Its like all the fun party guests left already. Now, the snowpack guy can stay as long as he wants, but, you know, its just him now.
  12. Doesn’t look too convincing either way. I don’t look at those and sharpen my snow shovels.
