  1. Jay was prime yesterday, I've never gone that fast for that long in that much powder. Yeah I've ridden twice as deep blower before but being able to keep speed through the deep powder and lay out turns in the more open and steep trees just felt unreal. I definitely needed some windshield wipers or something. This picture does a good job showing the depth in some places on the mountain from the recent snowfall. It was scraped down to the icier base from earlier in the week here, exposing the recent snowpack.
  2. 21-24" past 48 hours at Jay as of 8am. Today was amazing. They hit 30ft season total by 8am this morning, it snowed all day with the sun peaking through off and on.
  3. Theres about 7" of fresh fluff on the ground from overnight at grandpa grunts in Montgomery center. Seems super high ratio too.
  4. I agree. 3.5inches in ~2 hours at Montgomery center near Jay.
  5. Good day at Jay! Still coming down nicely.
  6. Been snowing hard off and on all day at Jay. Tram was closed. Hiked up there, rode the face chutes skisrs right of the tram. It was icy until I got into the tree and scree below the steep exposed section. Would have rather not taken the whole ridge up and gone down earlier skiers right of the tram. I think the snow would have held better there. Solo so didnt mess with the dip or big Jay. Hard to tell how much they recieved since last evening but probably another 6-7 on top of yesterdsys ~4". Made for really fast powder. Edit^: that might be a bit high for earlier today, it was hard to tell. Picture: Big Jay from top of tram around 3pm. Snowing hard again, it had cleared out slightly when I reached the summit of Jay which was nice. Winds were ripping at 3900'.
  7. Was snowing like mad coming into Montgomery center near Jay. Switched from sleet just south of Montpelier around 7. Still from a video I took.
  8. Yup, was freezing rain/drizzle when I left around 330-4pm. Wednesday should be nice!
  9. Mount snow looked like 4" at the base, 6 inches near the summit and in the woods. I drove to mt snow from my buddies house near Springfield mass this am. I was basically in the heaviest part of the frontogenesis band the whole way up. Now I'm driving up to Jay peak, solo for the next two days unfortunately.
  10. Just got back to SEPA from a CT work trip early this am. Going to head to mount snow this evening, meet up with buddies and ride there tomorrow. After that smuggs/Jay are on the table for mon/Tues. Should be a nice trip, not the 3+ feet of blower like last time I was in NNE, 1/8-11, but fresh snow is always nice and those northern mountains always ski so much deeper with the wind.
  11. Just got back from CT, their pack is still solid. Was surprised with the amount of snow still on the ground in our area. I took these pictures this morning. Heading to Northern VT around noon after a nap.
  12. I'm looking at something similar. Either wildcat/sugarbush sun, smugg/stowe/ jay mon and tues. That is if I ever get back from my CT work trip...
  13. I was just mentioning that the system in cali would be the Sunday system. Carry on.
  14. It's a cutter on Sunday. Guidance is trending cooler and possibly popping a low off the coast of Maine. Could be some snow/ice right at the beginning but I'd think itd be mostly rain here. Keeping an eye on it as I'll be in NNE during that time period.
  15. I have a red knit sweater with two big snowflakes on the front. My girlfriend says they're supposed to be poinsettas, but I'll happily retain my ignorance and wear it whenever it snows.
  16. I'd like to see this pile in a good year. Hopefully next year!
  17. Keeping my eye on sun/mon and hoping it's not rain all the way north. Single to negatives in the mtns. Teens south through PA.
  18. FWIW 10-12" where I'm at in North Haven, CT. Also , I got a kick out of this trailer completely covered in ice.
  19. Off topic, but kind of on topic: Some towns offer subsidies to install below/above ground shelters.
  20. Just north of North haven, working in a Amazon distro. What'd you guys get up here like 10 or so inches?
  21. I know it's the CMC but I like this. I'll be up in NNE during this time period, so I'm hoping this thing doesn't cut. If it does, it's going to be marginal in the whites and northern greens. Also I'm up in CT this week from the Philly area, 5"+ at my house but it's nice to have even more snow up here
  22. The snow is turning into concrete. 1 more day of thawing and a hard freeze would make it solid.
  23. Looking at Sunday into Monday, theres potential either for some snow, mixing, or rain all the way into Quebec city with a cutter.
